Both of it is annoying. Okay, it can happen, but fix it.amomentlikethis wrote:It annoys me more when people rate and don't comment.
Sometimes I do it too, but the following day I remember it, then I rate that map.
My point is, don't do it guys. Don't be an asshole.

That doesn't want to make me rate or comment on your maps.Tunco wrote:Both of it is annoying. Okay, it can happen, but fix it.amomentlikethis wrote:It annoys me more when people rate and don't comment.

I don't mind when people rate without commenting, unless it is a 3 or below.
I used to put "If you are going to rate me less than a 3, please tell me why"

Its like making a promise that you won't keep.
And don't get me wrong.. comments > rates because it ties the community together. =]

There's really no point in ratings, regardless of the presence of a Top Rated system or not.amomentlikethis wrote:What I forgot to say when I posted: I rarely rate maps. There's no point in ratings without a Top Rated system.

The Top Rated system worked well and made people rate maps. Since it's been removed, very rarely do new maps receive more than 10 ratings unless they're stuck to the top of the Hot Maps page.Manus Australis wrote:There's really no point in ratings, regardless of the presence of a Top Rated system or not.amomentlikethis wrote:What I forgot to say when I posted: I rarely rate maps. I'm sorry. I was under the impression that people enjoyed not being sniped. I wasn't aware that it was about how many ratings you got but about the actual ratings that you received. I would much prefer two 5's and a 4 as opposed to having 20 rates where at least 1/4 of them are 0's.amomentlikethis wrote:The Top Rated system worked well and made people rate maps. Bitesized worked so much better than Top Rated did, because it always offered new maps every day as opposed to having maps stagnating near the top of the list until by chance something comes along for maybe 5 minutes before it's sniped or rated down even .1% of a vote. Bitesized wasn't always about ratings; it was almost always about the map.
I'm against a system that promotes how many ratings you get, or the overall rating of your map. I'm for a system that highlights maps for certain qualities they possess.
This is why I support Featured Maps and Bitesizing. I don't have to like any of the Featured Maps or the Bitesized maps, but someone noticed something in each of the maps that they wanted to share with the rest of the community. Quality comes before quantity. I think that idea is what the community should focus on.
