Have you wanted to learn a programming language, but never started?
Have you been interested in producing content (graphical, game story, dialog, levels) for computer games, or have already done so? (aka. not a coder)
Have you made or ever wanted to create a computer game?
If you answered yes to any of the three, you might want to join in on 48.
The Project:
48 is designed to be a sandbox for coders and content developers alike.
You and a teammate will endeavor to create a game from the ground up in two seven days, or the titular forty-eight hours (Haha T____T). You can use any programming language you want, and can develop for any platform you want. Your game can be anything from a text-based RPG adventure to a hyperspace, puzzle-solving, zombie shoot 'em up. Each round will have a theme that should loosely be adhered to, and is given to just provide a general direction.
The Rules:
1. You're strongly urged to have a teammate.
2. You have up to one-hundred and sixty-eight hours to complete your game
3. There are no restrictions on programming language
4. There are no restrictions on platform
5. You are not required to create every resource on your own, but you are urged to do so. If you must use someone else's work, make sure it's not copyrighted, and give full credit
The Time Limit:
You have exactly a week to complete your project. Themes are given at the beginning of each round.
Set time limit is from Saturday morning at 0:00:00 until Friday night at 23:59:59, though being exact isn't really important. Just make sure you've submitted your work before the week limit ends.
Round Zero:
Starting the 18th of December, 48 is on.
48:0 will largely consist of figuring out what needs to change to make this project successful. Everyone is more than welcome to join. In fact, consider yourselves strongly invited. If you've ever wanted to code something, but never got around to it, join in. If you want to draw things for games, join in. Let's try and make this an enjoyable project that can keep happening.
Edit:
I realized two days really isn't enough time, so I've extended the duration to a week. Hopefully this'll be less stressful, and will entice more people to join in. There is still a bit of time until Friday, so if you want to join in, say so in a reply. (Also, you may see that I haven't changed the name of the project. Hah.)
