It's coming!

What presents did you got so far?

What presents are you willing to give?

Bunch of my friends said me that they bought me Lego. D: Hopefully it's something expensive (as they told me) so I can go to the store, return it and get something useful. Ehehehe. :D

I'm going to buy a friend of mine a PS3 game -tomorrow-, I will combine my money with another friend to buy him the game. (We don't know which game we will buy yet, any suggestions?)

What about you guys?

Wait, you're getting a Lego thing, and you are going to sell it?

Awful. Awful.

My parents basically allowed me to buy what I wanted to for christmas. I requested Magic Never Dies and Neverworld, both albums by Power Quest, and Ashes Against the Grain, by Agalloch. I also requested a book on algorithms and a book on graph theory. I requested Bioshock, Fallout 3, and the Valve Complete Pack, but Bioshock and Fallout 3 were rejected. So just yesterday I bought the Valve Complete Pack, and because my parents are quite lazy in this regard, I have already begun to play it.

Considering the house is full of several-thousand-piece-giant-lego-boxes-and-pieces, no, it's not. Also Geomags, K'nex's, and all the other stuff you can think of. I don't play them often as I did a several years ago.

You didn't acknowledge all of the other religious "holidays". How could you be so politically incorrect? Tsk tsk.

Sorry, Blackson. The question in the OP should be changed from "What are you getting for Christmas?" to "How many dreidels/festivals of harvest are you guys getting this year?".

Sure thing! PM me your steam account names or something. I play video games a lot, so I should be around to play something with at least decent regularity.

I have no idea. I've just had this ridiculously high-paying client so I figure I'll pick up a nice piece of software or something for myself after I've bought presents for the rest of my family.

Do we actually record this? Because I'll volunteer to read some of it. That would be sweet.

My entirely atheist family is big on Christmas for some reason. I've never quite understood it, and conversations about it have never gone far before yelling starts.
I love any excuse to get together with old friends and have a merry time, but if I lived by myself, I wouldn't buy a tree or really treat the day as any more special than any other vacation day.

My attitude toward gift-giving is easily described by the following:
The Big Bang Theory wrote:Penny: I got you and Leonard a few silly neighbor gifts, so I'll just put them under my tree.
Sheldon: Wait! You bought me a present?
Penny: Uh-huh.
Sheldon: Why would you do such a thing?
Penny: I don't know. 'Cause it's Christmas?
Sheldon: Oh, Penny. I know you think you are being generous, but the foundation of gift giving is reciprocity. You haven't given me a gift. You've given me an obligation.
Wolowitz: Don't feel bad, Penny, it's a classic rookie mistake. My first Hanukah with Sheldon, he yelled at me for eight nights.
Penny: Now, hey, it's okay. You don't have to get me anything in return.
Sheldon: Of course I do. The essence of the custom is that I now have to go out and purchase for you a gift of commensurate value and representing the same perceived level of friendship as that represented by the gift you've given me. It's no wonder suicide rates skyrocket this time of year.
Penny: Okay, you know what? Forget it. I'm not giving you a present.
Sheldon: No, it's too late. I see it. That elf sticker says, "To Sheldon." The die has been cast. The moving finger has writ. Hannibal has crossed the Alps.
Wolowitz: [Raj then whispers into Wolowitz' ear then they both laugh] I know. It's funny when it's not happening to us.
Penny: [Exasperated] Sheldon, I am very, very sorry.
Sheldon: No. No, I brought this on myself by being such an endearing and important part of your life.
Sheldon Cooper: [Turning to Wolowitz and Raj] I'm going to need a ride to the mall.
Howard Wolowitz: It's happening to us.
The Big Bang Theory wrote:Sheldon: "The entire institution of gift-giving makes no sense! Let’s say that I go out, and I spend 50 dollars on you. It’s a laborious activity because I have to imagine what you need, whereas you know what you need. Now I could simplify things, just giving you the 50 dollars directly, and then you could give me 50 dollars on my birthday, and so on... until one of us dies, leaving the other one old and 50 dollars richer. And I ask you, is it worth it?"
That said, the central problem here can be removed with public online wishlists. Now that I know of and have put to successful use my very own wishlists, it's one of those things that I can't imagine ever having survived without. I've been pushing all of the members of my family to make them so that everyone else can collaborate on their presents.
Because if you impose the gift-giving nonsense, you may as well have it done right.

Giving gifts only fails to make sense when you're doing it wrong.

I don't know what i'm getting for Christmas. Hopefully a nice mix of edible and tangible :)

Haha I just watched that episode of The Big Bang Theory

I don't want to ask for anything from my host family here in Chile, they have already given me so much. It is weird, that it is summer during Christmas. I mean, I knew that it was going to be summer during Christmas, but it is just weird. I still think it is silly that they didn't change any of the traditions up. Santa on surf board makes a whole lot more sense in the southern hemisphere.

Fix'd. 2nd is way better than the first. Also, got my Lego thing today from my friends -I was very obstinate about it, they decided to give it to me today :D- , going to picture it and post here when I'm finished with it.

I think, on average, I've spent more on presents for my friends than my family...

Still, I'm hoping to get a DSi. And I got Rome: Total War from a friend, which is awesome. And a pretty cool hat from Matt... I'll have to see if I can get a picture of it.
