This ties in somewhat to my prediction, which is that New Zealand will be underwater.

EDIT: Edoi, I take it you're on of those idiots who said the millennium was ending in 2001? And, Slappy, props for being realistic. The rest of you, dream on about getting married and still having a job. Cheers!

There are more bands I love who made their debut these last ten years than bands I love who made their debut any other decade combined. I see music only going uphill as it becomes easier to record and our cultural consciousness starts to embrace more offbeat ideas.
I think the technologic revolution played a large part in this, with more music readily available to pretty much anyone with an internet connection.

By 2020, there will only be one country remaining.

Now that we've moved on to the years that can be described as 20XX, I'm eagerly awaiting the creation of Mega Man.

Haha. We could describe the last ten as 20XX. :/

Edit: actually, no. We can describe 2000, 2011, 2022, 2033, 2044, 2055, 2066, 2077, 2088, and so on like that.

You are so smart, Slappy.

Anyway, my prediction is that there won't be any fatalities inside a Volvo by 2020.

Erm... Not entirely. The denotion of the 21st century is listed as 20XX. These Xs represent any number, and do not have to match. At least, this is common usage. For example:

"21st century

20XX redirects here."

^From Wikipedia. Surely a re-direction means that people search for 20XX, correct?

Anywho, yeah. The last decade could be explained in the same way.

World population will be over 10 billion about 2015-2018. 10 billion people is not good for this planet.

I'll become a rockstar at somepoint in the next decade. When that happens, I'll be sure to tell you guys all about it.

Should that fails, I currently like the idea of becoming a guitar teacher - you know, make money by doing what i love? I think that would be the happiest way to live my life, and that's what i'm really looking for.

On a less 'me' focused note, I think that although technology will become less pollutive, the continued population increase will ultimately cancel it out.

Nope, we're talking about a specific century, so the 0 there is necessary, by SlappyMcGee's brilliant theory.

Unless they're all in the same statement, in which case they do.

To solve the statement x² + 2x + 4, you assume each x is the same value...if you wanted different values, you'd say x² + 2y + 4...it's simple math.

That's an equation/function/statement. This is a date.

I get the feeling, however, that I'm not going to win this arguement. So, to save time, I'm going to just say we're in the era of 20XY and be done with it.

Hahah, what? No!

Slappy was mostly joking about it, I believe, so you're not wrong at all. You aren't talking mathematically.

Just in order to clear up some things, 20XX could equal 2000. Take this equation.

4+x=2x

Logically, we can decide that x must be equal to four. This does not mean the equation must be
x+x=2x

Because then it would be impossible to solve. The value x represents can appear without being represented by X.
