This.... Has got to be the worst purchase I've ever made. God damn what a fool I was. Had it for 3 months. It's been broken 4 times for a total of 2 months. They can't fix it so they're sending me a new one. Still... What a disgraceful piece of machinery.

Everybody in this thread is shocked!

I mean, really, absolutely no sympathy for you. You asked for our opinions, ignored them, thus mooting the thread and basically just becoming a "look how much money I have, chumps" thread.

Actually, the thread was to ask if the computers specs were good. it got twisted into said "look how much money I have" crap somewhere along the line. But that's not important.

That aside, say what you want about me and this disgraceful purchase. I probably deserve it. Yes, I didn't heed your warnings. Yes, I pulled the stupidest thing I can do when it comes to buying a computer. Yes, I'm gonna be reaping the shit I sow for a long while. And no, I'm not looking for sympathy.

Sell the new one, get one of those i7 laptops... honestly I hope you listen to us now. You're lucky I'm nice enough to still help you.

I may just very well do that. I can't be this thing constantly break on me if I need it for school.

I don't like to flame or anything but Yungerkid, you're an idiot. He's buying a laptop (or bought in this case now) not a goddamn desktop, portable graphics cards are different, you can't build a laptop (or at least not easier or cheaper) yourself due to no form factors at all. Also Alienware did used to be a bad brand (Hell up until about a month or two ago they still were) but their new computers do seem to be quality (Not heard any oh god melting issues about them). Either way point being your entire advice is only relevant to desktop computers not laptops.

Now for sniperwhere: While having a stupidly poweful laptop is useful the more power you put in to it the more heat it has to disperse, this is why stuff like Alienware has heat issues, it's not easy to get rid of the heat of such a compressed area. Any powerful laptop will have heat issues. The recommendation of getting either a netbook or just less powerful laptop AND a powerful desktop for your dorm or wherever you live to do the more demanding stuff would be much better.

I would argue that Alienware used to be a good brand and have gone sharply downhill since them. If their most recent line does not melt, I hardly see that as an accolade.

Coincidence that they've gone downhill since Dell took over them?
