Ok, so this thread is one of the strangest things I've read for a long while.

I can honestly say that the whole Tetris shebang doesn't bother me in the slightest. For me, the guy was just another "character" in this rather unusual part of my life... I could count on one hand the number of members of this community that I feel any human connection to (no offense guys, I just wasn't here to network). And I don't begrudge anyone the pain of Dave's revelation. You guys knock yourselves out.

There is something deeply unsettling, though, from a personal perspective... the realization that I am neither here nor there. I am not a cornerstone of the community, I am not a memorable character, I will not go down in Metalore. Because I stood for everything this community was destined not to become. I arrived with a shedload of ideas on how to make this community great. Not because I loved the community. But because I loved the project of the community. I came, I innovated, got a load of attention for what I did, I left.

What remains of my ideas? Not much, to be honest. All I see is an empty shell. I find it really freaking weird to hear that Mare & Raigan do not want to take on this community, and I'm surprised to hear that there was ever friction between them and the staff at all. I find it utterly bizarre that, while I was a member of staff, it was common knowledge (amongst those at the top) that future Metanet Software products were not forthcoming (I certainly had no idea). I was given keys to the castle, but no-one told me about the secret basement. I'm not bitter, or anything. It makes perfect sense - I was never part of the in crowd, and I didn't belong in the out crowd either. I was destined to be on the brink, because I was here for entirely different reasons to anyone else.

For what's it worth, you guys wasted thousands of hours of my life.
It was fun though, wasn't it?

For what it's worth, the "in-crowd" you refer to pretty much only comprises of Kablizzy. No one knew their games were going to stall, although Kablizzy could have guessed it. No one really had troubles with Mare and Raigan, except maybe Kablizzy on occasion. As for taking on the community - why would Mare and Raigan want to? They struggle enough to get new games done without having to manage this place. Besides, we can hold this place up fine without having to distract them from their work. And while I think it would be cool to have them around a bunch, I can see how this community would be hard to break into.

I'm intruiged by your ideas, though. You've given me a (fleeting) spark of motivation to want to do something again.
