Holy shit, I just consistently misread Mute_Monk's posts. I did that twice. How weird.
I thought you were saying it's extremely unlikely for some reason, but I see now we've been on the same page. My bad.

That's kinda what I was getting at, Yanni. I'd sig it forever, but that's what everyone else did, so instead I settled for waiting a few years until the situation arose again.SlappyMcGee wrote:My favorite metanet quote ever.Spawn of Yanni wrote:iangb wrote:I can't remember whether you're pro- or anti-, so if I've just viciously agreed with you, my apologies.

there's alot of old civilizations out there who have pictures/encryption of diferent races and/or artifacts. It could be that our planet HAS been visited by aliens, but since then has not been fully understandable.

Absolutely. For example, I have a picture of an Asian person in my house. And I'm sure some white guy out there somewhere has a photo of a black person.SeventhSpirit wrote:there's alot of old civilizations out there who have pictures/encryption of diferent races and/or artifacts.
Too bad there aren't any civilizations who made depictions of, like, aliens though. Cuz there are none of those whatsoever. Because that never happened.
Heh, yeah, remember that whole fiasco about the US failing to find any prisoners in Nazi concentration camps because the Nazis had encrypted their Jews? We moved right past them without recognizing what they were, because their race had been encrypted.SeventhSpirit wrote:encryption of diferent races
Y'know, I tell this to doubters all the time, but they still don't believe me: it's pretty much a fact that the ancient Egyptians had basically perfect knowledge of geology, especially when it came to our planet. But they describe an Earth that we totally don't recognize in their records, and our own geologists today (who know next to nothing compared to what the Egyptians did) have no knowledge of what the Earth was like before 2400 B.C. -- the year Stonehenge was built!! If you ask me, this couldn't have been a coincidence. Clearly what happened was that aliens came down, left a few signs of their influence, and then changed the fundamental laws of the universe (particularly gravitation) so that we couldn't understand our planet anymore. I mean, all that requires is omnipotence, and if there's anything to be learned from the totally factual documentary "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" that was based on completely true events which it reported inerrantly, aliens are nothing if not fucking magical.SeventhSpirit wrote:It could be that our planet HAS been visited by aliens, but since then has not been fully understandable.
This is utterly devoid of meaning.SeventhSpirit's signature wrote:Those who defy time are met with the greatest consequences (anonymous)

I believe there is life somewhere not on this planet but not on this galaxy. Or maybe here but we haven't seen yet. Hey, after all, the Universe is just too big, it IS possible to have life somewhere else, right? And since it's too big, we can't find it in the immenseness of the Universe (easily).
I read about evidences that there was life on Mars, although they have all died.
Oh yeah, I read that some satellites have a golden card inviting aliens to Earth (I think it was Pioneer I and II) and a long-playing record consisting of various tracks (Voyager?!) and also radio. I read that some are sending a message to Messier 13, star clusters, but it is so far away. It will take about 50, 000 years to send a reply (IF an alien CAN answer a radio message/call from outer space).
Anyway, simply, I believe in aliens, also UFOs, although not all UFO sightings though, because I think a lot are hoaxes.

Yeah, I think other life is totally possible, but all those things about UFO's... uh? I'm not really believing it. It is a matter of opinion, but when it does come to spaceships, "I saw a big metal thing in the sky!! It had lights and was really fast!!" can get real annoying. Really makes you think... hmm....
Although, that doesnt seem to be a problem on N! :D

This confuses me.Neil_Bryan wrote:I believe in... UFOs, although not... UFO sightings
To say that you believe in UFO's but not in UFO sightings, aren't you essentially saying that you believe some life somewhere is capable of building a spaceship? Like, for example, oh, I don't know, humans? I believe that the Apollo missions weren't hoaxes -- is this consistent with what you believe?

I think that if we were to come into contact with aliens and studied their culture, it would give us a lot of insight into religion, for one. (I know I"m kind of being vague right now but I don't have the energy to explain myself in full at the moment)

I COME WHEN MY NAME IS CALLED*.
Contact with an alien race would either irritate or vindicate millions of sociologists across the globe. It's a shame that it'll probably never happen in my lifetime. To quote one of those scientist types in Armageddon - "beg'n your pardon sir, but it's a big-ass sky."
