Yep, sidkers is on board. So when you guys eventually have a spiffy new site to drool over, be sure to thank him as well as LV. :)
Good to see the support from everyone. I can't wait to see this take off.

I've been questioning sidke every so often about it, and it looks like slow going so far. I wish I had more to say, but that's all I've got for now. Don't worry, though. I'll be sure to let you guys know about any major developments.

I'm totally in this. I loved the first competition, and the whole 'anonymous' gym leader idea sounds great. I loved the concept art :D

Perhaps because this is the second generation, the gym maps could be slightly more inventive than just, say, gauss only? You could have a turret gym (Like rockets + gauss) or a drone gym, or an electric gym (zaps, seekers, thwumps and floorguards.) Something like those ideas would be awesome.

If we can come up with eight plausible themes like those, that'd be great. The enemy rules just made it /really/ easy to come up with eight Gyms. I'd love to hear from more of the original Gym Leaders (that are still around) about their thoughts for the revamped contest - seeing as, if they're willing, they'd probably reprise their roles from the original.lord_day wrote:Perhaps because this is the second generation, the gym maps could be slightly more inventive than just, say, gauss only? the system + the image reminds me a lot of the pokemon game...
are the challenges supposed to be like beating gym leaders to gain their position?
(sorry if this has already been asked)

The contest is purposefully modeled after Pokemon, yes, but no, you don't gain a Gym Leader's position by beating him. I mean, when you beat Brock, he doesn't give you his Geodude and Onix and go off on some whirlwind adventure.da_guru wrote:the system + the image reminds me a lot of the pokemon game...

Everything you detailed in the first post looks awesome, I love the idea of the anonymous gym leaders.
As for the gym maps themselves, having hybrid gym themes would be a cool thing to do the second time around. maybe, like, a Robot gym (no turrets), an Army gym (chainguns and rockets)? i dunno, just ideas.
I can't really code or anything but i would love to participate in this again and help out somehow!
