I want to buy a .net domain for my site, but I don't know any sites that are actually going to be easy to use, or work. Can someone suggest one?

Are you looking for hosting space or just a domain? If it's just a domain, then that's easy. The Real N uses http://1and1.com

Does the site register domains for existing sites or does it create the site where you build it?
Because the site already exists here: White Water Graphics

After you own the domain, you can set it to redirect to your site there.

Alternatively both maestro and I use www.nearlyfreespeech.net - which is pretty good and reasonably cheap, too. In fact, I think it's 50 cents cheaper than 1&1, but I'm not sure.

Umm, it's actually $1.60 more... But Nearly Free Speech is a good site. When it comes down to is, $7 a year vs. $10 a year isn't a big deal at all, so pick a company you like and trust.Weisslenny0 wrote:Alternatively both maestro and I use http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net - which is pretty good and reasonably cheap, too. Bluehost gives you a free domain with practically unlimited hosting features for $7 (I think) a month. This website and myself use it, I have had only great service from them. The support is excellent and they allow for lots of customisation.
Oh, I'd reccommend getting your own forum instead of the free one, why? Security, professionalism, ability to actually do what you want, no ads and stuff like that.

From what I looked at, NFS is 40c a year cheaper than 1&1 ($8.59 vs $8.99). But it's all good.LittleViking wrote:Umm, it's actually $1.60 more... But Nearly Free Speech is a good site. $7 month is a fair bit of money, so you (Sniperwhere) would have to decide whether a) you're prepared to host his own forum and b) if you'd use enough bandwidth/storage for it to be worth that. I don't know if I'm missing something but Bluehost don't seem to tell you exactly what their pricing scheme is unless you hand over your billing information.Pembie wrote:Bluehost gives you a free domain with practically unlimited hosting features for $7 (I think) a month. Oh, huh. 1and1 was totally $6.99 this morning. Either they changed it, or I had an old cache. Or I'm crazy.

NFS offers the best pricing I could find. You could technically get 7.99/year with eNom, but it's a $1500 startup fee, so that's unlikely. (also 7.50/yr with Jolis if you buy 100 or more)

Well, I went with a 1&1 which was indeed 6.99 a year. The thing is, I can't fully assign it yet, either because it's not fully set up, or there's some problem I have yet to know about.
And I'm sticking with the site I currently got because moving will probably kill it and it's got a bunch of links on a few sites that would be armaggedon on my nerves to get sorted out. Besides, invisionfree is quite reliable.
And I don't want any free domains. They always have some way of getting back at you. I'm fine paying 6.99 a year.

This doesn't seem right:
Thank you for contacting us.
It is not possible to have another option other than 'Existing
Directory' since you have an Instant Domain Registration package. It
doesn't have any webspace access. May we just ask, where did you create
your website? Is it through Website Builder? If so, you will need to
assign it to that project/application since it is not yet assigned. To
do that, please refer on the instructions below.

godaddy.com (I know that that sounds....well, you know. But it's not) has pretty cheap prices. And you buy it in year-long increments. That's where I get my websites' urls domain names.

Godaddy is great for .info (99 cents a year!) but everything else is more expensive than NFS and 1and1.Why Me wrote:godaddy.com (I know that that sounds....well, you know.
