It depends on the situation for me, if I'm in bed then it's usually at the lowest possible on my iPod. On a bus trip I would have it quite loud and at home I would have it anywhere from medium-quiet to medium-loud.
Clickme
spoiler

Orange- N cannot be spoken, or even thought about in my household. If my parents ever found out that I have played N since the cleansing, my life would be ruined. I keep the game in a multi-passworded .rar on a USB flash drive inside a locked boron alloy container that requires two keys to open (I keep one under the 64th hammer in my piano, and the other one in a small section of removable ceiling in the corner of the attic) hidden in a wall compartment lined with aluminium foil to prevent sonar detection behind my 375 kg cupboard, which is bolted to the floor - the only way to reach it is to abseil outside the fourth floor window and use a screwdriver to unfasten the screws holding the secret brick in place on the opposite side of the wall, but the screwdriver must be a specific type like the one I own, since if any other screwdriver comes into contact with the screws, the entire building will explode, as will a seperate charge placed inside the boron alloy container, rendering the USB useless. Even once the container is retrieved, attemping to open it without the arming pin in place (which is kept inside the battery compartment of my Maglite) will cause the water reservoirs lining the container to burst and react with the caesium lining, causing the container to burst into flames - the only way to prevent this is to use the arming pins to shut off the reservoirs with a sliding steel door. The USB itself contains an accelerometer linked to an explosive charge, meaning that if the USB detects its own movement speed as being greater than 5 cm/s, it will explode - any person attempting to steal it would have to move at a uselessly slow speed. Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.

As you can see, I take my N playing very seriously.

Guiseppi- I'd much rather watch animals get boned in the ass.

Yanni- If it's glad, it's not rape.

Tsukatu- I refuse to use throw-away bags for such a frequent purpose as buying groceries. Instead, I've collected the hair of my two pet dogs and have woven them together into an all-natural, 100% environmentally friendly bag that I bring with me everywhere. And when I buy products that come in glass and plastic containers, I track down the company that packages them and ship back their containers so that they don't take up space in landfills.

Yeah, I use plastic.

Tsukatu- I hear Ebony Online is great, too. Cum save your princess, my lord!

Ska- UR MUM LIKE IS SPICY

Ska- why d i get the feeling what i typed will end up in the quote depository; or worse: someone's sig.

KinGAleX- I did it on the couch a little while ago.

Zeph- I got too pissed at the knife in the end so I just broke the wood on my knee

Not too loud where people have to tell you to lower it but not low enough. A happy medium.

The volume of my music is directly proportional to how much I like the song being played. It also gets louder towards the late afternoon and dwindles towards the evening.

If it's the end of () or I'm especially into an In the Aeroplane listen, I'll get the headphones on and crank it up until you can still hear it in the next room. Otherwise, you know, pretty average.

bad mood and/or good music: 23-29 (i've broken 30 only once, and it hurt)
at work: 7-13
preoccupied at home: 11-19
sleeping: 1-5

whenever i listen to music, i feel the urge to make sure its volume level is at a prime number

Loud enough to hear it well, quiet enough to not annoy others.

If I had an iPod, I'd play it fairly loud when I go to sleep. I have to share a room, y'see, and they get quite rambunctious. If I'm, like, on the computer, though, you can only really hear it if you're within a four-five foot radius around my speakers.

Pretty much depends on how into the song I am. If it's restrained/quiet/pretentious it's listened to as such. If it's something I can really sink my teeth into, though, I'm liable to turn it up to where people could hear it from the other side of my door.

Generally not too loud, but if I'm listening to something soft then I'll turn it way up. Or if I'm listening with my super-speakers then the volume tends to go really high - especially if no one's around.

I don't usually listen to it quietly, unless my parents make me turn it down.

I like to blast my Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Metallica, Megadeth, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.
Not made for quietness.

Cars are good places for blasting music. Going down the highway with the windows open and blasting some nice drum n bass or breakcore. Squarepusher and Venetian snares type stuff.

It sorta depends on the song for in-ear stuff and through speakers at home. Also depends on if I'm told to turn it down!

I seriously hate it when I drive by a 1996 Honda Civic with body kits and huge spoilers, blasting shitty rap music. I then blast my death metal with my windows down and then leave them in the dust with my Boxer engine.

When there isn't too much background noise, and I'm alone, I'll usually turn the volume way up if I'm listening to the metal half of my iPod. If I'm listening to the half that isn't metal, the volume will be low to mid levels, unless there's noise going on around me. Then I'll turn the volume up until I can hear my music.

Pretty much the same. My earphones are noise cancellation as well, so maybe a bit lower for all of those cases.

That depends... If I'm in a car, for example, I play it quite loud. But I usually just use my mac to play music.
I find that it doesn't matter how loud the music is. It typically has no effect on the awesome level of my taste of music. :3

Music is never loud enough. I find that a song will always sound better if you reach for the volume controls and hitch it up a notch. Keep going until your ears bleed.

I usually blast my ears with sound with my WeSC headphones, but with my regular speakers I tend to be more quiet so the folks don't yell. But yeah, loud is never enough as mintnut said.

Music does sound so much better the louder it is. Whenever I listen to a new CD I make sure I've got my headphones in and turn it up loud and it sounds so great. Usually I'd have my music pretty quiet, but I make exceptions for new CDs and when I'm doing work.
