Tough call. I liked GOB more at first because I was into magic when I watched the series for the first time. Tobias just has so much going for him, though; so many small things in each episode that I never got the first time around (though that is true for everything in the show). I love how there are splotches of blue paint scattered randomly around the set through most of season two.

Okay, so I finished the first season. I thought the show is nice, moves a little slow at some points, but it's good. Not as great as Firefly, though. :PSlappyMcGee wrote:hairscapades wrote:The mini-series was amazing. I watched through season 1 and then stopped. Starting with the mini-series, then season 1, then 2, and then we'll see from there. If it's interesting I'll keep going, but if not, eh.
However, I didn't see the death you're referring to. Unless you mean the stunt Sharon pulls in the last scene.

I'ma finish up Battlestar Galactica within the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, I'm looking for a new sci-fi series. Suggestions? Any thoughts on Stargate? Or what about Star Trek? I've only watch some random episodes of it, really. But there's so many seasons, I don't know where to start.

Skip Stargate. Outside of Atlantis and the early seasons of SG1, it's not very good. (Although Atlantis is a great series, it's difficult to get into.)Techno wrote:I'ma finish up Battlestar Galactica within the next two weeks.

Trek is where it's at. The original series will either charm you in it's twilight zone esque campy way or drive you away. And The Next Generation takes seasons before it gets good and even then, is not the best to offer. The best transition from BSG is to watch Star Trek: Deep Space 9. It's my favorite Star Trek series and it's the one with the most connective of plots. You'll also get a lot of the same themes and plot direction as BSG, as it shares a showrunner in Ronald D. Moore.
Have you watched Firefly? :)

I still think the early seasons of SG-1 are worth a watch. It's really cheesy sci-fi TV but the first four seasons have really good characters and mostly interesting plots.SlappyMcGee wrote:Skip Stargate. Outside of Atlantis and the early seasons of SG1, it's not very good.

Yeah, but the problem is that after that it spirals downward.hairscapades wrote:I still think the early seasons of SG-1 are worth a watch. I might not do this until later, then.SlappyMcGee wrote: Skip Stargate. Outside of Atlantis and the early seasons of SG1, it's not very good. (Although Atlantis is a great series, it's difficult to get into.)
I'll take your suggestion of Deep Space 9 and watch that next. I'll see where it goes from there. I will probably watch the original series after.SlappyMcGee wrote:Trek is where it's at. The whole season three times through, at least. :PSlappyMcGee wrote: Have you watched Firefly? :)

Some movies I've seen recently that have all been added to my favorites list: A Serious Man, A Single Man, Good Night and Good Luck, and Porco Rosso.
Porco Rosso may be the best thing Miyazaki has ever done. If you plan on watching this, English dubs are always safe with Miyazaki films, but I wholeheartedly recommend watching the original instead. It just feels better.

I keep wanting to watch White Collar, but can't seem to find the time (or rather, I keep waisting my time playing video games).

I caught the last half of that a few years back. It's time that I should watch the whole thing.Yahoozy wrote:Porco Rosso may be the best thing Miyazaki has ever done.
