Hi everyone,

My name is Benjamyn Hazelton and I am an iPhone owner, years before apple was even known for iphones or ipod touches I have loved and played N on my PC at home. I just loved the physics and beautiful yet simple graphics of N, its been the funnest game for me and I've mastered every episode on it. When i heard a new N game was created for an at-home console (Xbox 360), i was excited and saddened at the same time as I am not and Xbox owner and therefor cannot play or even access the new and amazing N+. It sucks because for ALL those people out there that don't have access to Xbox Live Arcade can't get the new N+. Metanet, the designers of N+ are reallllyyy losing out on a BIG market with N+ ONLY being on Xbox. And i know they probably released it on Xbox Live Arcade because it was easier to distribute to everyones living room wirelessly, and in a carefree way.

For these reasons I would like to ask Metanet to consider building and selling N or N+ as a new iphone/ipod-touch app, in the app store. Apple currently sells Millions of iPhones and iPods every year, and with a few taps of the finger, consumers can download Apps instantly and wirelessly straight to there devise. With the same beautiful grace and fast paced action that the original had to offer, I am CERTAIN that it would be a number-one seller in the app store. The producers of the new N app would benefit GREATLY from this. Most apps being sold on the App store are currently 99c (US) or $1.19 (AU), Even if the app was charged at $5 each I Would still pay for it, and I'm sure thousands of people out there who would agree with me on this too. I just LOVE N and I can't believe it hasn't come to iPhone yet as it is such a great game. Apps have consumed basically everything that was once on other formats, and i would love to see the magnificant N or N+ go forth and claim its place as one of the apps.

Everyone who loves and plays N, will buy and enjoy this new app, and everyone unfamiliar with N will soon be very familiar with this great new Game to hit the stores. Why not make it? I have waited and have waited months months for an N app for my iphone to come out. Sadly i havent heard or seen anything about it happening, so I have constructed this message. It would be an unwise decision NOT to create an N App for iPod-touch and iPhones, the market is just toooo big at the moment not to have your Metanet foot in the doors of Apples App Store. A few months of hard work will definately pay off in the end.

So if the Producers are reading this now, please consider making N for iPhone, it could just be the best decision you've ever made.
If your just a N fan user like me, please reply with your thoughts on the subject and vote if you feel the same way as i do. (or just forward this message to producers if you know them)

Thanks,
Benjamyn Hazelton (Australia)

If you are just a user on the metanet forum or just a reader, please comment or make a vote if you too would LOVE N or N+ as the new top-selling app.

The Metanet Timeline is like that last level of Lego Star Wars: full of huge gaps that are near impossible to get past. Also, Darth Vader tries to kill you.

There's been a lot of talk about this over the last while... iPad application, N for PS3, etc. As far as any official releases, it's far off. However, if Mare and Raigan release the source code for N, this may happen a lot sooner. Whether they'll do that soon (or ever) is questionable.
Either way, don't get your hopes up.

The reason that they didn't release it on more platforms is because they signed an exclusive contract with Microsoft. When said contract expired, they released N+ on the PSP and DS (I'm pretty sure, anyone who knows exactly, call me out here).

While I agree that it would be neat to have it on the iPhone, it's easier said than done. The game would have to be totally changed to a scrolling one (the screen isn't big enough for an entire level at once), on screen buttons, and many other things. Oh, and the main reason, iPhone's don't support Flash.

The unfortunate thing about N is that its developers are more than slow paced. We've been waiting on N1.5 for about 2 years passed its expected release date. They have too much on their plate right now with the anticipated release of N1.5, Robotology, and Office Yeti.

Hope this explains a few things.

Sorry :(

Actually we started N+ on DS/PSP at about the same time as XBLA, they were supposed to be released simultaneously but there were delays; the exclusivity clauses in the contract were limited so that e.g Microsoft's allowed us to make a handheld version and Atari's allowed us to make a console version.

Anyway, that's not the problem; the problem is that the game itself would have to be really changed to work well on iOS platforms, and we feel that this would sort of be a waste; a good iPhone game really needs to be designed around the touch interface, and certainly it shouldn't rely on precise button-presses. We're not really interested in making an inferior version of N, which we feel is inevitably how it would turn out when you try to shoehorn N onto iPhone :(

Also, as mentioned above we're already busy enough with other things! We do have some other N-related plans but nothing solid enough to announce.

My vote goes for N+ for PC, because i don't have XBOX, PSP or Nintendo DS and i don't want to buy any of those 3 only for N+ (N is the only game i play). Just distribute it through Steam or something, it shouldn't be problematic. Please please please.

Both N and N+ through steam would be great. Just make it so you can either download N as a freeware game, or pay for N+ and get both automatically.

Hi again and thanks for all the comments on N :)

@blackson - thanks for the comment back, but if you really think about it, gamers wouldnt have to stop and scroll screen across for a new section of the level. Picture like the view close-ish to 'N' and if he jumps far into the air, the view zooms out slowly with his rise and fall, simlar concepts when climbing walls.

But when you double tap on screen, options appear, a map option could be available and it could literally show like a full computer sized scale picture of the N level, like you see on the original N, where viewers would then scroll across, and see the main destination and quickly head back to game to get there.

Also, the 3 only 'on-hand' keys needed could be biggish enough for finger tips, but transparent enough to clearly see both the map and the key outline :)
ooo its exciting just thinking about the possibilities.

As for the speed of it and the "flow" that N still has now, it could be done with the new iOS4's higher speed, or the iPad's A4 Processor.

@raigan - i can understand what you mean about the the platforms and touch screen, who knows, there might just be a device (probs similar to iPad) one day that is great enough for a portable N game on an Apple product. Sometimes you either go Apple with things or you dont.

I would say that i can vision N being great on iPhone, all it needs is a jump, left and right key (double tap for pause/exit/kill) and thats it, thousands of games use these keys effectively for there reproduction on iphone.

I know what you mean how it could possibly make N, 'bad' if its not delivered right, but in my mind it just seems so possible, so clear, so simple :) if only it were that easy haha

thanks for the reply. Good luck with the new stuff coming.

PS: dont forget the unbelievably HUGE market in Apples products recently too ;)

Like their 50,000 returned phones and millions of free cases? Huge market for case makers.

I'm just going to second this; I don't think it's the right interface. What you could have is an N Destruction minigame, where you can throw N around with similar physics and have hit stuff - mines, the ceiling, the floor, etc. But that's just ragdoll stuff and isn't much fun (though would be very nicely suited to the touch-only interface).
The only way you could actually port N to the iPod is if you had some on-screen keys, which would be horrible, or it was landscape and you controlled his left and right movements with the volume buttons. Which could actually work, but again would be a little bit extremely fiddly.

Alternatively, just jailbrake your device and use Flash on it. According to Engaget, that's what all the cool kids are doing (http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/07/how- ... -for-real/).

This could not be done on the iPhone as the screen is too small (I know. I have a 3rd gen 32gb iPod Touch). iPad might be possible but not iPhone/iTouch.

It could be done. The debate is whether a smaller screen would compromise the core gameplay. Personally, as an iPhone 4 owner and particularly of interest is iSO4's new gaming client that let's you play over wifi etc. I'd love to see an iSO4 port but let's be realistic, unless it's developed by a 3rd party developer (legtimate or jailbroken), this won't be happening anytime soon.

I think the real problem here is that the iphone doesn't support flash. It would be easier just to lobby for a flash app for the iphone

since the online server for the ds N+ is a shit-load of poop, it needs to be fixed.

Question!

will it be fixed, or would it be easier to release N+2?

or with either ever happen? no offense, but it just seems that things that need to be done, don't get done around here.
