Your ideal after-life?

I've often had the thought that I could actually be a member of humanity far in the future, and my current existence is just like watching a movie. You hop in a [simulator], or something. And then you are born, live out a full life - which is actually just a replay of somebodies life from whatever time period you choose to live in. Maybe you even get to choose whose life you get to live. So I, knowing this life was going to be a good one (from a preview?) chose to live out the life I am now living, and so when it's all over i'll just wake up (or something similar) an hour or two after i got in the [simulator].

Somewhat similar to yungerkid's idea, i guess. I wonder whether it was fear of death or non-existance that spawned this idea.
