For the morbidly curious, this train wreck is worth a look: Al-Qaeda's official Inspire Magazine
Cover items include:
The West should ban the Niqāb Covering its Real Face
and
Make A Bomb in the kitchen of your Mom
(creative capitalization is sic., not mine)
You just can't make this shit up.
I started reading the opening editorial and was instantly bored by the editor's writing style. He's clearly had little professional writing experience, if any, and accustomed to generating lectures about Islam exclusively out of his ass.
Although I did get a kick out of seeing the steaming pile of shit icon at every mention of "His Messenger".
Unfortunately, the content after page 3 must have been written in some obsolete PDF format or something, because all I get is 64 pages of binary garbage.
So -- any of you feeling Inspired?

This is another of a long line of Tsukatu posts made by the last line.

I don't get it.
But seriously, what? Have I missed something? Is Inspired a terrorist? Huh?

Is it just me or does this sound like flowery justification for radical fundamentalist terrorism? (I won't say "radical Islam" because I wouldn't want to get anyone's panties in a bunch.)Inspire Magazine wrote:Therefore, he says that when you inspire someone towards something using the verb ĥariđ, you are saying that unless they do what you are inspiring them to do they would perish. So the word ĥariđ is an inspiration that saves a person and guides them towards what is good for them.
If this is seriously written by Al-Qaeda, then it's probably one of the most amusing things I've read since I translated Sudan's government website for a school project on Darfur. (They denied the whole thing, in case anyone's wondering.)

Wait; this only makes sense if you, like me, confuse Inspired and UniverseZero and thought that Inspired was the lunatic with the kitchen knives and the rorshach mask. If this does not describe you, ignore all previous of my posts.

the fact that all but three pages of it are errored gibberish makes me doubt its authenticity. Or maybe I'm just hanging on to the idea that I live in a reality where an article titled "Make A Bomb in the kitchen of your Mom" could only exist in a Family Guy episode.

That's a very odd reason to doubt its authenticity. Radical Islamic groups have never really shown to be up to date with 21st century technology in the first place, and it also wouldn't surprise me if the source of the error was some kind of character set failure.OneSevenNine wrote:the fact that all but three pages of it are errored gibberish makes me doubt its authenticity.

I meant it as in that it would be very convenient for anybody trying to fake it as a joke if they only had to make three pages of it.Tsukatu wrote:That's a very odd reason to doubt its authenticity. On a side note, apparently that debris was put in there intentionally.
EDIT: The gibberish is a list of cupcakes.

Ha. The CIA agent who replaced the original with the ASCII dump of the cupcakes article is probably laughing his ass off right now. I know I would be.OneSevenNine wrote:EDIT: The gibberish is a list of cupcakes.
