Memorising the first section of Zeitgeist would be sure to help.

Fuck you, Slaps. Though my IQ may be substandard for this community, i'm not an unintelligent individual. Most of what Zeitgeist says about christianity is a simple comparison to other religeons. There's nothing sketchy about that, though I am willing to accept some of the things it says are false.=w= wrote:Destiny is obviously retarded.

A minority of people here are significantly above you in reasoning.Destiny wrote:Fuck you, Slaps. Though my IQ may be substandard for this community, i'm not an unintelligent individual. We think you're retarded because you bought into the 9/11 conspiracy bullshit and have yet, apparently, to respond to the numerous refutations presented thereto.

Universezero wrote:I disagree; I loved that movie. That's what made me atheist as opposed to agnostic.=w= wrote:Destiny is obviously retarded.
THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.
Oh my fucking God.
Like, seriously?
How can a movie that proves USING FALSEHOODS, LIES, and DECEPTION ON THE FILMMAKERS PARTS that Christianity borrowed from other relgions drive you from being agnostic (I choose not to believe in things that are not proven.) to atheist ( I choose to believe that there is definitely not a God, even though there is no evidence supporting that).
Like, what the flying fuck? How can you be so ridiculously retarded? Don't you see that you are just like them? Don't you see that getting persuaded by a MOVIE FROM 2000 and fucking 7 THAT THERE IS NO HIGHER POWER IS JUST AS BAD WORSE THAN BEING CONVINCED BY A 2000 YEAR OLD BOOK THAT THERE IS A GOD?
AND WHAT THE HELL? DID YOU GUYS EVEN WATCH THE LAST TWO THIRDS OF THAT SHITTY FUCKING MOVIE? ARE YOU JUST IGNORING THOSE PARTS? DID YOUR EYES ROLL SO FAR BACK INTO YOUR HEADS DURING THE PART WHERE HE ALLEGES THAT THERE IS A EVIL CRIME SYNDICATE OF BANKERS CONTROLLING ALL OF THE WORLD THROUGH A SLAVE-MASTER RELATIONSHIP WITH ALL MEDIA THAT YOU HAVE GONE COMPLETELY BLIND?
I am so ashamed for you guys, right now. You are the problem with atheism, agnostism, and general opposition to religion in general. It's not guys who go around trying to convince Christian assholes to stop being Christians; those guys are douchebags, yes, but they don't even begin to do the damage that you do.
You are scum. You took a movie that nearly every scholar in the world agrees to be patently false and use that as your best argument against a book that nearly every scholar in the world agrees to be patently false. This is ludicrous. It is just so stupid. It's like you guys can only believe in ridiculous alarmist extremes. "I'm a Christian! Nothing can prove that Christianity is false short of A REALLY TERRIBLY DIRECTED FILM BY A CONSPIRACY THEORIST USING THE VERY MEDIA HE CONDEMNS TO BE CONTROLLED BY THE WORLD CRIME SYNDICATE AS A SOURCE THAT CHRISTIANITY IS TOTALLY FALSE, MAN."
I... rage... tears...

I was athiest long before Zeitgeist O_o
and scythe: I just kinda... stopped reading that thread. It's why i don't go into the debate forum much. It requires a lot of effort, and I come here to relax. It's not that i'm not capable of putting in a good debate if I wanted, I just prefer to do other things within this community.
And if I take the entirety of Zeitgeist to be false, as every scholar in the world calims, then my outlook on the world doesn't change even a little. That film was a minor point in my life, I don't even care about it that much. I'll admit that it had a large effect on me immidiately after i watched it, but the ultimate lesson i leart from it was to have a mind open to other alternatives than those shown to me. That doesn't mean i now see the world from a Zeitgeist enlightened perspective, and believe all those conspiracies. It just means i'm less gullible to the media.

Not directed at you, as much as it was UZ. And believing Zeitgeist is true makes you more gullible to the media.

I only watched the first third. Also, I think movies from 2007 maybe be more reliable than one from before the birth of modern science.
You need to calm down, Slaps. You're missing the point. It's not about the movie, it's about the facts themselves. Growing up in a Christian school, I'd never actually been presented with facts that contradict the bible. That film, along with other sources which said roughly the same thing, convinced me.

i'm guessing some atheists are just looking for reassurance that they're not making the biggest fuckup of their lives. thus, zeitgeist.

It's almost certainly more related to the natural human tendency to believe that whatever time they're alive in is particularly important, historically speaking. See also: speculation for the last two hundred years that either the Second Coming or a Malthusian catastrophe were imminent, though the first one will never happen and the second is a long ways off.Scrivener wrote:i'm guessing some atheists are just looking for reassurance that they're not making the biggest fuckup of their lives. thus, zeitgeist.

The problem with Zeitgeist is that because it "plays fast and loose" with the facts and yet speaks for the side of the fence that is supposedly rooted in logic and science, it reflects poorly not only on itself but on the entirety of the side of reason. It is to us as Westboro Baptist Church must appear to sane, moderate Christians. Or as the Tea Party appears to rational right wingers. Or as fundamentalist extremists must seem to the majority of the Muslim world. By disregarding the very foundation of what it should have been building its argument on, it rendered everything that it could have otherwise said a moot point. It's a shame to the producers and it's a shame to anyone who's bought into it, no matter how little a share you've purchased.
If there are points in Zeitgeist that made you question or rethink your views on anything at all, I suggest you find other, more trustworthy sources of information to back up your opinions.
