Easily verified that that's not true! Illegal Art's servers are just getting swamped. Alternate download links here: http://illegal-art.net/allday/Aidiera wrote:Also, the Girl Talk Album was only available for one day, try this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?vy057v6rld16oee

The DCUP remix is amazing. Then again, I apparently have a weakness for that retro electro funk sound.
These were featured on WITR, which is the only reason I know why they exist, and I am grateful for it.
This is easily the hardest-hitting LSDJ EP of the year.

Hauschka - Foreign Landscapes
Some orchestral modern classical where the strings and woodwinds don't sound like they're trying to strangle themselves. A very, very pleasant break from the shrillness.
Favourite song: Children

I had a listen to that, Tanner. Very nice.
Speaking of modern classical, some friends of mine recently bought me Suite For Ma Dukes on 12". It's a chamber music rendition of four of J Dilla's more famous beats. Having another listen now in the rain. It's so lovely.
Edit: not orchestral. -_-

Indeed, though right now I'm still listening to Golden Cage over and over. Mostly 'cause of the bass.
Anyway, on to something that is truly legen.... wait for it....

Is hauschka "modern classical"? I mean, apart from the fact that those two words are essentially antonyms, it seems weird to describe his work as classical; he's said himself that his work alludes to electronic music (kraftwerk in particular).hairscapades wrote:Hauschka - Foreign Landscapes

Have you listened to Foreign Landscapes? I can see how it "alludes" to electronic music but it is most definitely modern classical.mintnut wrote:Is hauschka "modern classical"? It's summer here (despite what the weather seems to think) and so it is time for this thoroughly lovely album.

I don't feel like getting album art.
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
The Antlers - Hospice
Local Natives - that album they have i dunno the name i forgot sorry
Sun City Girls - Funeral Mariachi (as awkward as it may sound, this is like a mix of Tuxedomoon with This Mortal Coil to me - AND THAT MAKES IT AWESOME *.*)
More albums I'm forgetting.

but mainly I've been digging Elliott Smith, because he's incredible. and also because he had a 'best of' type album released recently

Sometimes I wish Elliott Smith didn't look like such a meathead. It's very unbecoming of him.
