EDIT: In short, I'm making a relationship-themed mixtape for my girlfriend as part of her Christmas present. I'm hopefully looking for suggestions and opinions on the options I've already come up with, since I was hoping to narrow it down to 12 songs. I know there's a lot of tracks here but any opinions or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Yo La Tengo - You Can Have It All, Our Way to Fall
fun. - All the Pretty Girls
Beach House - Lover of Mine
Sufjan Stevens - The Dress Looks Nice On You, To Be Alone With You
Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls
John Lennon - Love
The Cranberries - No Need to Argue, You and Me
Radiohead - All I Need, Creep
The Drifters - Saturday Night at the Movies
The Shins - Girl Inform Me
The Beach Boys - Don't Worry Baby, California Girls, God Only Knows, Surfer Girl, I'd Love Just Once To See You
Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels), Crown of Love
The White Stripes - Fell in Love With a Girl, Well It's True That We Love One Another, I Just Don't Know What to do with Myself, We're Going to be Friends
City and Colour - The Girl
Coconut Records - West Coast
Belle and Sebastian - Another Sunny Day, We Rule the School
The Shout Out Louds - Time Left for Love
The Magnetic Fields - Crazy For You (But Not That Crazy), Time Enough For Rocking When We're Old, The Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side
Band of Horses/Cee-lo - No One's Gonna Love You
The Postal Service/Iron & Wine - Such Great Heights
The Beatles - Oh! Darling, Something
Villagers - Meaning of the Ritual
Sea Wolf - Leaves in the River
Simon and Garfunkel - For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her

People write to me and say, "I’m giving up, you’re not talking to me." I just write them a simple message like, "Never give up," you know? And it changes their life

None of these have anything to do with Christmas. My recommendations:
  • Must Be Santa - Bob Dylan
  • Christmas Themed Horror Movie From The 80's - dev/null
  • David Christmas - Fucked Up
  • The Wrong Way To Celebrate Christmas - Rev. Edward W. Clayborn (The Guitar Evangelist)
  • Christmas on Acid - The Vestibules
  • Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - Ryuichi Sakamoto
  • Joy To The World - John Fahey
  • Christmas Eve Pts. 1-3 [Alternate Version] - Old Man Gloom
  • Christmas - Jesu
  • Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree - The Magnetic Fields
  • Santas's Coming Over - Low
All of these are lovingly provided by myself and #music without their knowledge.

Alongs these lines, She Came Home For Christmas by Mew is Christmas-themed, though I'm pretty sure it's also sexual-abuse-themed and therefore perhaps not entirely appropriate.

Elmer Wright is an alright dude. Raymond "HJ" Wojtowicz came across this tape in some salvation army somewhere and put it on while driving my hung-over ass to some nasty breakfast zone. Mr. Wright possesses a special kind of hatred towards christmas, one that could only be harbored by a man that loves the lord jesus christ more than anything else in the world. He preaches his gospel through aggressively repetitive country tunes that wow and flutter sluggishly from florida heatwaves. His downer vibes and monotone interludes really drive home that "drowning in the vibes" feeling that only a big crusty resin hit can truly mimic.

Elmer Wright - The Man That Sing The Gospel On The Pier
This plus the good Rev'rend Clayborn track mentioned up there is all you need to tell your beloved just how you feel in a seasonally appropriate way.
