Categories will be the same as in the op. Tentatively, we're thinking nominations open until about the 15th of April, then voting til the end of the month.

Voting will unfortunately be via the counters' forums inboxes, maybe.

There should be a stickied thread up later, and hopefully a featured Dronies map.

Start thinking about your nominations!
Maps from December 1, 2010 to December 30, 2011 are eligible. Questions about the categories/anything else should be posted in this thread. Pledges to nominate go here. Aidiera and I will begin accepting nominations NOW, via our forums inboxes.

Dronies categories 2011:

Action
Mapper
Race
Puzzle
Review
Nreality
Community Member
New Mapper
Mappack
DDA
Nart
Tileset
Concept (Innovation)
Run

...of the year.

It's a question because there are probably 50 people who would love to nominate and then read the thread after -- and then maybe three or four who are willing to set up the website and compile the results.

So, overwhelmingly positive response, which I expected. Next step: brainstorm new categories to go with some of the old ones we are keeping. OP updated.

(Also, ortsz, can we still use dronies.nry do you know?)

We should keep the usual old categories for each map type, the usual contribution categories and such. However, in view of changing times, let's try to adopt things like Best NReality Map of the Year, etc. Stuff that happens now, that didn't happen back then, you know?

Lol, Nreality of the Year is an old category.. it's been in at least the past two. 2011 isn't on this page, but in 2010, there is indeed a category for Nreality: http://n.wikia.com/wiki/The_Dronies

And I was going to quote someone else too.. but it ended up to be your post as well. There have been a few DDA's this year, but Narts definitely need a boost. I'm planning something for halloween though, because I always (grand total: twice) do something for it. ^^

I'll do some helping out if you want. Obviously I'm just another unskilled pair of hands which I guess is not where the demand is, but there you go.

There's really no need for Dronies this year...
Romp (http://www.nmaps.net/215746), by drayr is the best action map.
Acrophobia (http://www.nmaps.net/215400), by sun()system is the best puzzle map.
Upheaval (http://www.nmaps.net/216616), by thereisaspoon is the best race map.
ChrisE is best map maker, tied with deep_blue.

Nobody cares about the other categories.
Sorry for ruining it for everyone.

The reason we have the dronies is so that people can nominate the maps they like and then vote on the maps that are chosen. Although I expect that these maps may make it in, you're also dealing with an entire community of people with differing opinions. I imagine there will be other great maps that pop up that maybe you missed this year, yeah?

Also there are many other categories that people do care about. For example, I'm looking forward to Reviewer of the Year and Community Achievement. So nnnnnyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaah.

All in good fun. All in good fun.

I'm thinking it's high time we removed the forum categories. There is no point to them anymore, seeing as how the forums are on life support right now.
