You put your thoughts in a nutshell. And I agree. I imagine a kind of "skill points" system. You have a certain number of points which you can distribute in different ways. I for example put some points in school, some in playing the piano, some in N and a few in sports. These are things I'm good at. The remaining points are distributed in other aspects of life, but since there are not many points I'm not good at these things(like painting, singing or writing). I'm not sure if everyone has the same amount of points or if some people have more than others, but what I'm sure about is that nobody can have an infinite amount of points. And therefore nobody can be perfect at everything. But that's a good thing. Our life would be very boring if everybody could do everything.
I also think that people who don't have much money for example often live a happier life than a star with millions of dollars who has to worry about thiefs, paparazzi and what not else. The higher you climb, the farther you can fall. If you live life at a lower standard there's not so much you can lose. I should keep that in mind.
It's similar with a pessimistic way of thinking: If something great happens to you, you feel fantastic because you expected something worse. If something bad happens to you, it doesn't hit you as hard because you already expected something bad to happen. If you have an optimistic way of thinking on the other side you're much more disappointed when something doesn't work the way you'd have expected.

Just to finish, I want tell you to never stop doing what you love and what you enjoy, regardless of your results, if you love doing, keep doing it. For me, and I'm sure for everyone too, you are impressive.

Nice episode runs. Prop especially for episode 56. The levels are all fairly long and you did well. (Kudos for taking the 56-0 0th in the process!) I myself took 33-4 back from Eddy, and I will defend the 0th until my finger bleeds.

Took 47-1, 54-4, 57-1, 59-2, 65-4 and 86-3. And with this, I finally managed to pass 71900 secs of TLS! Interestingly, I just passed the community TLS from June 2012 :P

I took a step back from this "excessive highscoring" I did the last weeks and dedicated some time to episode 0ths instead which are much easier to get than level 0ths. Took Ep53, Ep56, 56-0 and Ep78. Eru's TES and Episode Points are beaten. :) Nice runs, Eddy btw. Go and reach 71.9k!

Nice episodic work macro, eru finally falls haha, I saw you very close a couple days ago so I knew you were about to make it, I'm sure you can still clean a lot (35.5 at least, for sure). By the way you must be about to pass me on Episode 0th Rankings don't you? I'll keep working on levels for more time, although I'll eventually go back to episodes to improve my stats there as well (not in a near future though).

And also thanks man! :D I just reached 71.9 right now! Man now I'm starting to think that 72k is humanly reachable, well I mean technically it is of course, since the community has reached it altogether.

Great runs Eddy as always. Glad none of them were mine though :) I think the difference you got on 54-4 is pretty amazing, half a second up on van and a full second over Lim in 2nd.

Why would you think that macro? van's run wasn't super clean, the biggest thing was somebody else getting the rcj at the end. As we've seen on 51-0 and 10-0, once one person shows the jump is possible it usually isn't too long before somebody else duplicates it. Just happened to take a lot longer than normal for this one.

After looking at 65-4, I wonder... is a thwump jump possible at the end, or is there no way to get the proper trajectory to miss at least one gold? Maybe even a solid push...

ok u dont know me except EMG who is a bit familiar with me but still.. (+one of the reasons why I got into N is self improvement)

Well growing up I was extremely uncompetitive and I guess my talents helped sustain that (in the way that I still got a's and b's for example). I never actually had the 'taste of victory' and the proper pain of trying hard either. But then one time when on holiday with parents we climbed to some deserted beach and got tired and hot and at the opportunity, I took and drank my mum's water bottle. She was angry, but at the realisation I got much more angry/disappointed with myself and that made me forget how messed up my body was feeling and suddenly I was stronger than I ever was (we were climbing over rocks so I felt it). And that sparked years of thoughts about believing in myself. (Looking back it was a simple adrenaline hit). -The point is, you've got to be strong in life otherwise you'll get caught out and you will sin or even worse ''sin'' without your mind being kind of blinded to it -(which is what I think happens all around the world, e.g. bankers been overly greedy etc). (I don't mean sin in a 'christian' way at all, just easier to say it) (btw I think strength is only useful to keep yourself thinking in the right direction, not for 'resisting', it should be more of a 'realisation')

-But actually my point is that, working hard to achieve big goals rather than being sensitive to other joys in life and eating cake is not very natural to me. Macrohenry your worries about being second best are ''so fucking typical'' and your later comment about combining various successes just makes me think that those issues would keep following you. Btw another success is of course your mapping skills.



I cant make a comment in answer to you guys -incl Eddy without going into deep personal beliefs:
Just because most things teaching us about fulfilment and destinations are retarded and stupid (like Christianity, paganism or most self help books), it does not mean that we shouldn't believe in the spirit and so on. I made the Jump the devil map because I personally believe that in the universe there were these Buddha like contented creatures floating around and somehow one of them broke (crashed with another or by some bad influence (devil equivalent)), so our life/universe is just debris from it spinning or w/e to try and return to that contented state and while its doing that it created complex things like us -who's sole purpose is to get that fulfilment contented state that Eddy is talking about not needing to have.

But the point is we're not there yet, now as humans at the cost of feeling pleasure nearly everything makes us suffer -we are built by evolution from a mess after all (and the devil is probably close). So we live inside a challenge to be happy yet survive.

For example a King can find it easier to get those endorphins that make our brains think we have achieved that contented happy state, but once you are a King its possible to have your position be taken from you and the sooner you realise that its possible to loose your position like that and that you're just another person the better!! ......Soooo that would make you want to be able to have those 'highs' no matter the position you are in and as you succeed at it (or try without end cause u see no alternative), you will be able to swap between different highs so that if you are say a city banker you wouldn't SCREW SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE for more money, simply because you won't need it and wont be blind to the consequences. So the result is likely that in the life we currently live as humans you have to settle for a reasonable 80 to 20% ratio of suffering to positives (or less) and anything which tries to offer you more will ultimately prolong your suffering. (I mentioned 'spirit' here, because I dont believe that if your body dies in this life, you will be free from these challenges until life itself reaches its destination (and once life/universe comes to the end that I'm assuming, it will probably get broken again sometime later)).

But I would advice to look more into the beauty of life and not get into the Buddhist solution of not wanting anything outside of you (which btw I think can be a good back up) or drugs which is basically hooking your brain to a machine that floods you with happy chemicals etc etc.

But now you'll see that my thinking is not far from Eddy's: I was making a map one day and I really wanted to finish it and make it a success but I ran out of time, I had chores to do. So I couldn't get my happiness that day but then, thinking that 'the best achievements take a lot of time', I thought instead to feel that bigger than normal anticipation you naturally feel together with a break of some nice thing like cake lol can be an 'attainment/fulfillment feeling' ON ITS OWN -especially with the strong realisation that there is absolutely no other way to get real goals. And the aim is to keep having that over and over (after spending however long you decide is best working towards it) as gold medals eventually come and go. So like Eddy I also hate and try to ignore gold medals themselves.

oh and Macrohenry I used the f word but of course I really respect that you're worried about it and that you openly said it.

You could imagine that a soldier who starts making harsh realisations such as what I mentioned is doomed. But the point is to make those realisations and do what u have to do cause it wont get any worse before the main fear kicks in, which would make it worse. Recently I realised that the real reason why I stopped successfully doing basic trades on the stock market is because it used to leave me kind of dazed from the stress effects that I pretended I didn't really have. So I think its best to live in a state which is just 'close' to those fear effects (as opposed to not having them at all or being in them). (Also dont forget to use jolliness at times when u can use it)

Eddy, I guess Im envious of the mental state you talk about, but some things blow my mind and some don't.. I guess when chasing specific things you then have to have an incredible tolerance for fluctuations (e.g sometimes u feel better than other times).
Btw I think its cool how you in these modern times you hear more people say ''im passionate about finding a cure for a desease'' or ''im passionate about making quality skis''. Before it seemed that to be a scientist you have to be repressed and if not you can be a premiership footballer instead

I don't think it is possible to get all of them with one jump off the thwump, but here is a test map if you want to give it a shot.

well done anyway... I went through the entire N wikia to update all the episode 0ths. There were a few errant scores, with the wrong player or score that have been updated, plus all the recent scores that have been taken in the last year or two that haven't been updated. I'll make more of an effort to keep these current, even if it's not really that important...

Also I know I'm late on the subject and Eddy pretty much summed up a lot of what I would have touched on. But I can relate and was also a perfectionist and dealt with all the disadvantages that comes with it. It honestly comes down to what Eddy spoke of with self-realization & fear, and the classic cliche of there's nothing to fear but fear itself. Honestly tho I'm not going to bombard you (I think you've had enough of that heh) with ideas of existence, consciousness, and what not. I'll just leave you with keep yah head up brotha and life's abusive enough no need to mentally abuse yourself, relax & go with your flow, internal positivity man :)

Nice macro. 02-3 is a super stellar run. I believe that was run of the year when xaelar did it. & @kool; Raif did get .225 so there is still some room in there, but I think that is a pretty secure 0th Macro.

For 14-1, I highly doubt there is anything better, but here is a little test map is someone wants to innovate that bottom left room. I feel like there could possibly be a faster way to collect the switch and move on in that room.

Great run on 49-1, macro. Getting gold without hitting the trapdoor switch under it is so annoying, doing it three times in a run can't have been easy.
