This is obviously awesome; however, even when I renamed the .zip extension to .torrent, my torrent client wouldn't let me open it.

Edit: I'm a dummy! I didn't realise I needed to extract the zip's contents first. I thought you were implementing the old fake extension trick... which is funny, because back in the day it was the zip extension that was usually banned, and fake extensions needed to be used; i.e. "notazip"... anyway... nice work!

I haven't managed to download a single byte yet either, has anyone been able? If not I'm guessing only zapkt can do it :P

Damn, thats weird. uTorrent says "0 of 0 seeds connected", and "1 of 3 peers connected". I think you might be that single peer, but for some reason I'm not connecting to you.

But yet to find a Seed. I guess there's just not a great connection through to you zapkt. One thing you could do is just compress the files into a .zip, as .hs files are quite commpressible. 150MB would become 40 compressed. Then just upload it to Mega like Eddy.

Yeah, or rather .rar/.7z, they have a better compression rate and are common file formats. My compressed 278 file collection ended up with a 2.9 compression ratio, from 78MB to 27MB. The same compression rate would leave your file at around 60MB, plus a single file is better transfered than multiple files as you know.

By the way, your collection is awesome, almost a file per day. I've sometimes thought on a server that backs up NHigh files daily. That can't be hard to code, and if we did that we would have a file a day from now on. Think about that :P

Haha damn, awesome compression. Text files tend to work really well indeed. UHARC is even crazier with text files as far as I recall. By the way, I love how 5 minutes right before you posted, the torrent finished downloading xD (And I have no clue when it even started, to be honest, last time I checked it had 0.0% availability).

And regarding the python issue, those are some awesome news zapkt, means its completely factible to implement that to Hendor's website. I wish this had been done earlier, like, in 2004 haha.

Well yeah they are interesting, although the activity there is even more stagnated than in the Metanet levels. I'd first want to secure backups of the latter ones.

Can we get an official update to the rankings? Its been 2 and a half months, and 2 pages of the thread ago since the last one. I know you guys have been doing crazy, amazing things with various programs and websites, and that's great. But don't forget the official rankings, please. Although I know not much has changed (drastically) in the 0th and top20 rankings, except for Hendor's comeback, I'm sure there's been changeups in the points and stuff.

Since it seems that almost everyone else here has been doing the heavy lifting on the NHigh HighScore Master Collection Project and the Interactive Graphical History of Highscoring, I'm happy to compose a quarterly report if someone is able to crunch the numbers for me ;)

Introduction

Hey there guys, sorry for delay in the rankings, I was pretty absent till a few weeks ago. Alright, so its been 10 weeks since the last update, and since then we've had a total 42 0ths which have changed hands, 14 of them including battles with a single enchange each for a total of 56 0th exchanges, which you can check in the report.

Highscoring

So, I guess I'd like to start with something that happened right after I posted the previous update. I managed to reach 400 total 0ths! That is, 2/3 of the boards. Seems like it was a while ago, but it didn't make the previous rankings.

On the other hand, something that happened a little ago, was macrohenry cleaning up his 4th scores, to reach a total of 599 Top4 scores (his maximum possible), so a big congratulations to him there :D See, if I had posted the rankings earlier, we wouldn't have these 2 cool facts together. I'll never be able to join him up there, unless a new frame is discovered in 5-2, haha.

Now, one of the biggests hits is that we've seen the return of several veterans to the community, nothing could make me happier. The main one has been Hendor, who not only has returned to the community, but also to highscoring, in what seems to be so far his longest comeback to date. Hendor was at 500 Top20 scores by last rankings, and as he returned, he started climbing up the Top20 rankings as he did in the old days against Lim. Now he's currently standing at 596, only 2 off his personal best achieved in 2007 and 3 off the max possible for him (and for most people).That's not all he did though, he was also active in the 0th scene, taking 3 0ths of which 1 he still holds. To make things even better, he has been working on his TLS too, and reached the big 71000 seconds mark, only the 8th player ever to achieve it. Now, he's approaching golf in this respect, who recently reached 71200 seconds, so brace yourselves as a fight is about to arrive. Finally, he also worked on episodes, passing the 34k seconds mark and passing golfkid, let the fight begin here. He also started a big project, of which I'll talk in a moment.

But first, lets finish off with highscoring related issues. As I was saying, we saw the return of several veterans. We saw Wolfos coming back to the game to take 94-1, which he later lost, but its great to see that one doesn't lose his N form easily. We also saw the return of zapkt, not to highscoring though. I'll talk about that in a sec, too. Finally, glib made a quick comeback to say hi to the forums before vanishing in the darkness again. We even had eru turning up about an hour ago! And believe it or not, I've also seen TFK lurking in the forums several days, albeit not posting. Yeah, sorry to break it up man, now you'll have to visit us again.

The rest of the activity came from macrohenry, of course, with whom I had several interesting battles. He also innovated a couple levels with some awesome routes, levels being 17-1 and 42-3. Those were the biggest level leads of the past period, if I'm not wrong. He also managed to reach the 11000 points figure out of a possible 12000, which only him and myself have ever reached as far as I know.

Finally, we also had jp27ace showing up and taking a 0th recently, with a route change in 44-2 which exudes potential for a big lead to be grabbed, by utilizing the through-the-door glitch to grab the switch.

On a different note, macro was also the responsible of poor Izzy falling down to a single 0th, meanwhile I did the same for TFK. The boards will most likely see the inminent fall of the 2 players in a near future. Another interesting thing is we can now see van under 20 0ths, and xela at exactly 20 0ths. The bag of 0ths of these 2 big kings is slowly deflating more and more. Just as TRO and his past Ocuppy Lim movement, now an almost total success with Lim at only 1 0th left, I declare an Ocuppy xela movement. Nothing would be more awesome to see than one of the biggest players ever fall, right? You got something to say xela? I've seen you playing N2.0, lets see if you have the balls to come over here!

The list of cheated or Non-NReality 0ths list wasn't reduced this time, which as a reminder, only 7 of each list are missing to be fixed, some of which are impossible realtime, but others are.

The project

Now, as promised, I'll talk a little bit about that project I mentioned above. It all started with myself collecting NHigh files. zapkt returned out of the blue, and shared with us his 500 file collection from the old days, filling the biggest informative hole we had. It all blew up when Hendor, excited with all this new info, elaborated a project he had in mind for quite some time, an Interactive Graphical History of Highscoring. Quickly afterwards, I started doing some coding to automatize the process of reading NHigh files to amplify the sampling rate and develop more sorts of rankings/statistics. zapkt, which is still a daily visitor, lets hope that remains like that for a long time, started grabbing an NHigh file per hour in his server to ensure there's no shortage of files anymore in the future. He also started working in a similar project to that of Hendor, which is hosted in his site, and includes different kinds of reports, using the same chart style. You can contribute to it over here.

Since then, new NHigh files from the old times have been being collected, and new functions have been developed on both sides. If you have any file collection which you haven't shared yet, don't hesitate on sharing it over here.

The current state of this huge project that went from nothing to awesome in a week, is that both projects are being developed on parallel, and are definitely evolving at quite a high pace, so you can expect this to be huge by the next update! Keep tuned for more.

Conclusion

As always, I'll finish off the rankings by pointing out the total game score gains. The community gained a total 7.600 secs of Total Level Score, averaging almost 0.225 secs per level, that is, 9 frames. On the other hand, we also gained 46.775 seconds of Total Episode Score, passing the 35800 secs mark (a 71800 equivalent in eps) and averaging almost 5.850 secs per episode. As such, the difference between both has been reduced by 39.175 seconds.

Thanks for writing this up, they're always fun to read no matter how frequent they are. 17-1 and 42-3 from macrohenry were pretty mind-blowing, not to mention your cleaning abilities Eddy, which never cease to amaze. Congrats to everyone that hit milestones these past few months.

Thanks Eddy for this. Thanks also for not rubbing salt in my wound over episode 09. I'm confident I could reclaim it if I dedicated, like, 40 hours or something ridiculous into the episode, but I just don't have the time for it. (Not taking anything away from your stellar run.) However, I am a bit disheartened to be pegged down to single figures (in terms of 0ths). A blanket thanks to zapkt, Eddy, Hendor and everyone else who contributed the recent projects. Congrats to Eddy, macro, jp27ace and Hendor for their individual achievements.

Also, I had never seen automatize used before, and I've seen you use it twice, so I just thought I'd comment on it. Although technically correct (the best kind of correct), we usually say automate and automation to describe the process of automating something. At first I thought you were being cute, as admittedly, it is fun to say; further research indicated that, while acceptable, seems to be used less. Then the Oxford dictionary accepts automize/automise as well. Perhaps the alternatives have simply fallen out of favour by obsolescence? I suppose it's like how you can say tediousness and tedium; either are acceptable.

So, was your usage correct? Yes.
Why did I go about this thinly veiled rant? I don't know.
Will I stop using English and fully convert to Spanish? Unlikely.
