I was very confused at the huge jump on the final set of rankings. Then I remembered of all the levels that you 2 are tied on. So for those, if we only ignore one then the other still has the 0th and the rankings don't change for anybody. Since you seem to be in the giving mood, would you be able to give me a list of the 0ths I would gain by ignoring Eddyhenry? (or would it be macromatagallos?) Even just a PM would be good enough, I don't feel arrogant enough to demand it to be posted on the forums but I still wouldn't complain if that's how you did it :)

Regarding the other fact, it isn't just caused by ties. Bear in mind there are many routes that only us are doing, even if we are not tied. Take 83-3/78-3/54-1 as an example, that's just a few frames diff, but 4 and 5 secs in respect to the rest.

since both of you are so dominant nowadays it's sort of intriguing to see what would have happened if you didn't exist. also the 19th cutoff for the 0th rankings table would actually make sense

That is a cool statistic. The change in the community TLS when ignored. That is essentially the difference between a players 0th scores and the 1st place scores on those levels. It is like their personal contribution to the optimization of game. Obviously it is not a perfect measure because there are plenty of levels where for example Macro innovated the level saving like 2 seconds then Eddy came in an cleaned it up for another handful of frames. So in this measure Eddy would only get a few frames, but Macro would get nothing. Still cool though. Eddy and Macro clearly dominate.

All these facts are great, but this is the one that blows my mind the most:

Eddy's total level score: 72107.650
Community total score sans Eddy: 72092.875

What this means, in simple terms, is that Eddy's total score alone is 14.775 seconds more than the best score on each level, from every other player in the world... combined.

I would contend that is something that has never been accomplished in N until now. It would be interesting, I think, to learn when exactly this overlap occurred. I propose that anyone who accomplishes this feat, past or present, should be dubbed a Super Grandmaster (as is used in chess... he he)

i was secretly hoping to see my name on one or the other of the boards but was a bit disappointed to find myself just below the cutoff for both boards (i'd have 1 0th without eddy and 3 0ths without eddy+macrohenry - although last_fairytail shouldn't really be there, so i morally ought to have a spot on the eddy+macrohenry ignored board :p)

I suspect this is possible, and maybe its been figured recently with the flurry of programming, but is there a way to get the number of unique 0ths that somebody has had? I'm really curious on how many different 0ths I've held, and if possible it would be great to see the breakdown of level 0ths and episode 0ths. Then, just for fun, we can do a historical ranking of total 0ths held. What I'm thinking of does not include multiple 0ths on the same level/episode, as in battles, but just how many different level/ep 0ths somebody has held.

Edit: just to clarify, when I say that I think I will rank well, I don't mean that I will even rank in the top-20 necessarily. I'm talking about other players who weren't masters (masters being defined as having 50 0ths or more at one stage.)

Not only they aren't reliable enough, we don't have pre-2006 files so we can't calculate this. Pre-2006 stats were extracted from the rankings, so we only have the numbers. I did download several of the ranking spreadsheets that were used on the rankings trib4l made in 2005, but compiling that manually would be crazy, and I don't have them all either, as I wasn't expecting all attachments to be lost :S

Anyways, as you can imagine, this function takes quite a bit of processing time (it has to do thousands of comparisons per file), so I've only done individual player's for now.

You beat ska by 2 0ths :P Although since this only includes files starting in early 06 we're probably missing a few 0ths by you, so the tally might actually be higher.

Actually it can always be higher, since 0ths might have been acquired and lost during a period for which we don't have recorded files.

Thanks! It should actually cover most if not all of mine. I picked up my first two 0ths in January 2006 and never lost any before filing started a week or two later. Exceptions may of course be levels where intradaily battles weren't picked up on by the files available to us today. I can't remember. I used to keep some records myself, but I'm pretty sure I lost them about five years ago.

The list confirms my suspicion. I gathered about 50-60 0ths in four or five months without losing many of them along the way, but since then I haven't been able to focus on competing for more than a select few new ones. Hence my total is only slightly higher than my peak.

Thanks Eddy, means my peak ended up being just under half of my total 0ths. I do know you're missing one in 63-3 for my list, but its probably not on any lists because TFK took it from me in 30 minutes or so with a new route. Also, 16 out of 44 (45 :P) being episode scores shows how much I tried to focus on those.

Not only they aren't reliable enough, we don't have pre-2006 files so we can't calculate this. Pre-2006 stats were extracted from the rankings, so we only have the numbers.

This is what I had assumed; like golf, I found that these lists are conservative estimates, as my 12-0 isn't on the list (first one that comes to mind; there are probably others.)

My peak was apparently 83 0ths (incl 24 lvls), and I ever held only 43 different lvl 0ths. In my personal stats, I actually have a file with the list of ep 0th that I've never held and there are 25 of them (Eddy could do that with levels ^^) :
0 : 0, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9
10 : 10
20 : 22, 23, 25, 26
30 : none ;)
40 : none (got ep ownage at some point)
50 : none
60 : 64, 67
70 : 76, 77
80 : 80, 81, 82, 89
90 : 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 98

In short, 75 of the 118 0ths I ever held were episodes.

Oh that's interesting, because this summer when I started aiming for episode dominance I did the same thing on a spreadsheet. Here's mine:



Red ones used to be the ones for which my level scores weren't enough to take the ep, hence "impossible". The process is currently idle but I'll resume it after exams (in a couple weeks). There are 81 I've ever held apparently, of which 77 I still do.

(*) means the ep is under 2 secs off all 5 level 0ths, long term goal is to make them all green and like this :P

Obviously xela did reach 400 different 0ths. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Lim's count is much more accurate, since his period of most activity (2007) is registered in zapkt's almost daily files. I didn't even include trib4l because his count was barely a hundred and something, as he had already stopped playing pretty much when files started to be recorded. I was positively impressed by johnny's count, considering his peak was 161 and that he had started playing in 2005. That just goes to show how much 0ths were battled back then. Since johnny already reached 159 in late 2005, we must be missing tons of 0ths. For the same reason, I'd guess trib4l probably reached 400 0ths.
