As for the posts here, I'd rather not hear the titles all at once. I'd rather see the discovery taking place. More fun, no?
That reminds me...was Maniak a spammer?

Maniac was not a spammer, he was just a very active member that was here for a very long time.
Certainly not a spammer by today's definitions anyway. There is a very broad line between a spammer and a very active member.

Custom titles can be implemented but they haven't been, as of yet.

How does it do either? Post Count is dumb. If it were entirely up to me, and if I knew how to do it, I would remove it completely. Look at all the spam on the first page. I want to lock this thread (even the one on the old board, too, at the time). Why would anyone care about such a list? Because one has no life?

Well, Keron, you're a site admin. Ask one of the coders to remove the post count. They probably won't ignore you. Heck, you STARTED the old forums.

I for one wouldn't care about the post count if everyone else didn't. Geez, post counts are irrelevant (GuitarHeroMatt!?!).

Decisions like that are usually discussed and voted on by the majority. One person wouldn't just change something like that without consulting the others first.

Most of the forums I go to don't have post count; removing it can't be that hard, Keron.

id rather the staffing stuff happened before post counts came back, it seems a tad more important.

Anyone can start a forum with Forumer. Seriously.

It'd be interesting how this pans out.

I say keep the post count. I'm certain I could find more people that wanted to keep it than people that wanted it gone.

I agree. Sadly, this is one of those instances where the people who run the community and had several thousand posts on the old forum are in disagreement with the community. It amazes me how you and I don't really care about our thousands upon thousands of posts, but these guys with two or three hundred do.

Tsk, I say. Tsk.

Anyhow, manually editing post count will require a special mod of the forums, which means the forums will have to go down for a bit when we do it. We're waiting until we have all the mods we want to install at once before something like that happens. It'll probably not be for another week or two.

I'm sure you can survive without treating the forums like a number-buffing MMO for at least that long.

That's already been done.

Also, Dave, was it not your idea to match the post counts?

I think it was Dave's idea, well, someone said that we would get our post count back eventually. I don't really care about post count as much as anyone else. It doesn't really show anything about the person, except maybe how active they are(ignore my last post).

Maniac was indeed a spammer. Hell, so was I, so was nevermore. And really, we all three got our mod jobs from being spam-factories. We just so happened to turn out well as moderators as well.

Even more hilarious is one of the first things I did as a mod was crack down on spamming - So, by old-school definitions, no; We weren't really spammers as such. Mostly because we had no guidelines prior to mods being promoted.

And for the record, I hated the idea of matching post-count. Still kinda do. I like the thought that we're starting over, and we'll always have Forumer as an archive of what we had before. Granted, I would love to carry over my 10000+ posts to here, but really... At that point, who's even counting? As it turns out, we need some additional software to even match post-counts, and I'm not sure if we'll be uploading that to the forums or not. I think we're all relatively happy starting over (Even with my whopping *five* posts here).

I really would like post count carried over. I see where some people are coming from, but I was just a few posts away from 1000, which I was looking forward to. I was gonna do something for it.
