nommed!
also, the nom page says that I can change my noms if I want, is that true? (I might add something in future, if I'll remember something.)
voting for which sidke to choose was hard tho. I chose third one.
thanks for getting this stuff done!
edit: it seems I can't, hah. but I got all must-nom in there, so it's ok.

After you press submit, it will generate a link which you need to bookmark in order to edit your submissions later. If you didn't save it, I can either delete your noms and you can re-submit them, or you can just PM me your noms later and I'll fill them in.deep_blue wrote:nommed!

Wahaha... what makes this even more hilarious is that I was going to nominate sidke for the community contribution award anyway.
Also, I can't say I'm a big fan of the vague categories, in lieu of traditional categories such as "puzzle", "DDA" and "race" map of the year. I also will miss the "NReality" category. I like to see how people have used the almost limitless amount of tweaks to create innovative maps. Can we also get an "FBF/MBD/underlock" category for runs that are made by exploiting time and chance? Even if the options are limited, I think it would be a good idea to increase recognition of the category and acknowledge those who are usually left behind.

I want to stay away from specific genres. But you can definitely put races in one of the other categories. (I would choose the Challenging one cuz I have a hard time playing them.)Destiny wrote:Please add race map of the year :(

Shoulda read the FAQ. I was able to arrange my noms accordingly, so I hope you guys are too.▲▪►▪▼◄▲ wrote: ||>> Wait, why did you change things?
Well, normally we have categories for each type of map. But 2014 yielded only a total of 2,852 maps, where 2013 had 6,482. Less maps to choose from means most of the categories would not have been full. You're still nominating the same amount of maps, just in different categories. These categories are also fairly open to interpretation.

Yeah... I love you, mate, but I can't help feel that if it was me, you'd all be calling me power-hungry or something for doing this. (It's thirsty work being a dictator director...) On the other hand, you've made the effort to organise all of this, so I can only be so mad about it. (Now you can't accuse me of being a hypocrite in relation to the 2.0 debacle.) I actually think this might be interesting as a one-off thing.

So out of nearly three thousand total, there weren't five good puzzle or race maps made in the past year? I'm not necessarily against this, I just don't fully get it. But yeah, it's your show.▲▪►▪▼◄▲ wrote:Shoulda read the FAQ. I was able to arrange my noms accordingly, so I hope you guys are too.▲▪►▪▼◄▲ wrote: ||>> Wait, why did you change things?

During the previous three years I've hosted, I've added categories, taken away categories, and I have become unsatisfied with the idea of following categories. When "curious" turned out to be a raging success, I decided to add a "Unique" category. But looking through the majority of maps which came out 2014, I noticed that for a few of the categories, the pickens were significantly slim. So I had the choice: either A. keep adding categories and end up with two nominations in one category (which daddy don't like), or B. re-organize them so that members will be able to fill them in better. Don't forget that over half of the nominations get ignored because they only have one "backer" so to speak. I want that problem specifically to be less likely, so I chose to shuffle the categories. I know some people might consider this a power trip, but I want nothing more than to have an active Dronies season. And if this arrange works, I'll be exceedingly happy.

Fair enough. I know you only have the community's best interests at heart. I will admit, however, that "most unique" does sound a bit oxymoronic.

I thought I was being so clever. :( I've removed the number count. Everything should work now.yahoozy wrote:What's the cutoff date for maps? Mid-December something? EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the number thing. Disregard that, but now I'm having an issue submitting more than four maps? Five maps is over the text limit, presumably because enter is a character.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and assume that n-arts made by programs are disqualified from the Dronies?
Also, despite the fact krusch only submitted 10 maps at the end of 2014, they were all fantastic in my opinion, and as such, have cast him a nomination... quality over quantity in my book...

I'm pretty sure I didn't play a single NUMA map in 2014 so I can't help with that, but nommed a few players and runs.

They aren't technically disqualified, it just depends on how many votes they get, so if I get 5 normal n-arts and 1 auto-gen, the auto-gen won't make the cut.ska wrote:I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and assume that n-arts made by programs are disqualified from the Dronies?
Excellent. I've also updated the OP with the new noms. Thank you very much, and don't forget that you should be able to change your submissions of you'd like.ska wrote:Also, despite krusch only submitted 10 maps at the end of 2014, they were all fantastic in my opinion, and as such, have cast him a nomination... quality over quantity in my book...
