The Neditor Nation Gym Challenge Thread

Looking to challenge Neditor Nation’s Gym Leaders? You’ve come to the right place. Post your Gym challenge here each week so the Judges can score them. Please use the following format when submitting a Gym challenge:
Gym: Insert the Gym Leader’s name here.
Map: Insert the link to your map on NUMA here. Don’t forget the “nnrpg” tag.
Demo: State whether or not you have posted a demo on the Gym Leader’s map (on NUMA, not on NReality). You may also post demo data in "
You will receive the result of your Gym challenge, as well as comments from the Judge, in a Personal Message once it is scored. Please remember that you may only challenge a Gym once per week.

When the time comes, this thread will also handle Champion challenges. Only one Neditor may challenge the Champion per week. The first Champion challenge posted here each week is the one that will be scored.

Judges: Please post in this thread each week to let the other Judges know which maps you will be scoring. This will ensure that all maps are judged and that none are accidentally judged multiple times. PM all results to me so I can record them and notify the competitors. Remember also that as of Week 3, Judges are required to provide comments on all maps they score.

The Gym maps and the rules accompanying them can all be found here. Good luck!

Hmm, personally I thought the second map was the best out of the selection, with the third and first scrapping over second place imo.

>_< Not discussion thread. Meh, Ill challenge Templex some time soon.

Yeah, I agree. But I don't think this thread is for discussion (?). Then again, I may be wrong.

Err... gr_8, I think you're meant to state the COMPETITOR'S map(s) that you are going off to judge.

As you're the first to accept the judging of GTM - I'd guess you get the honour. Just don't post it - PM or email Pheidi.

Edit: Twin posts with Pheidi - oops, sorry! For future reference, may I suggest that the first post in chronological order to clearly state acceptance of a challenge is allowed to judge?

Brainwasher scored GTM's challenge against Templex. What I mean by posting the maps you will be judging is giving the names of the competitors whose challenges you will be covering. For example, if person A and person B submit challenges, a judge should post saying, "I'll be judging person A's map," and another judge might post saying, "I'll judge person B's map."

Oh, yappydog kinda beat me to it. Posted anyway. :)

Could I have the judging template please (if there is one)? You can map to a strategy with it.

Blackson, the scoring rubric is in the rules, and you can't challenge tktktk's Gym without defeating Templex, atob, lord_day, PALEMOON, rocket_thumped, and Yahoozy, in that order.

This is a true *headdesk* moment. I spent a while on that.

Could I re-submit when I get there?

question: how does the demo factor into the scoring?
Simple answer: Check the demo and mention it to Pheidi, but keep your original score.

The judge simply scores on the [Gameplay / Aesthetics / Originality] system, possibly with a total if you're feeling generous, and sends Pheidippides a PM or email. If the demo is an honest completion or AGD, then Pheidi will increase the score beyond the judged value to include a +1 or +3 bonus. Leaders' maps are therefore ALWAYS beatable - even a [20, 10, 10] "perfect" gym could be beaten by a competitor with a demo.

e.g. Gym Leader has a [15, 5, 5] map - 25 points - and this is challenged. The map is of [14, 4, 5] quality - scoring only 23 for the map - but the mapper has produced a (checked) AGD of the Leader's map. Pheidi adds this on after the judging to give a 26 point grand total, and a shiny new badge to the competitor.
