First things first, for those of you who have not noticed, this is Maximo from the forums of yore, most notably, the founding member of the Legacy Team.

Third things second, I felt it about time to bring back a great tradition because I'm sick of the maps I've been playing lately, and really would like to play a good map.

Now secondly, Welcome to the NCi. Which is short for N Editor Contest i (see thread title). Think of the "i" like the new Nintendo DSi, no real significance other than to denote it's newness and inexplicable awesomeness.*

That said, this contest is going to be just like the old ones. I have a bang up gang of judges ready to critique your maps on the finer points of map making, namely not sucking.

As in years past, NCi will have a theme and NCi shall be no different. The theme this go around is Good Maps.

Bu...bu...what? you say. I answer with this simple statement of truth. I am sick of scrolling through 18 pages of Numa a day finding one map worth giving over a three (as are the other members of my judging brigade, I would include you in this list if you guys didn't rate everything with tiles, a ninja, and maybe an exit at 4 just for trying).

That all aside I repeat. The theme is to just make a good map, which shouldn't be so hard considering you all have had ample time to learn how to not suck at this game.

So now for some rules:

No manual level editing. No using Nreality. No glitches. No old maps. Only 3 submissions per person. All maps go to Numa. No editing of maps once I post I have the map. Contest deadline TBA.

That should be easy enough to follow. Basically the aim here is to make maps that are good. The rubric for this contest is as follows:

Goodness of map (0-15 points): How well did you complete the primary goal of this challenge?
Aesthetics of map (0-5 points): How well does this map make my eyes happy?
Hardness of map (0-5 points): Does your map make me happy to beat, or does beating my computer whilst playing your map make me happy?
Total (0-25 points): If you can add three number together you can figure out this category.**

The winning map will be decided by whichever has the highest average score amongst the judges who judge them. Pretty simple stuff.

The Judges are secret aside from me, but will include only members of my elite map rating team.***

Now please, fellow N players, make some good maps and I will be enthralled beyond all belief and name my first child after you.****

Annotations
*There is not built in camera function with the NCi, this is how it is not like the DSi. It is however inexplicable awesome, kinda like the DSi (ask Japan)
**Adding numbers potentially larger than 10 is required. Some carrying may be involved in the tens digit as well. Be prepared.
***These will be legacy team members. This should be obvious to previous contest entrants.
****This is a lie, real prizes include knowing you don't suck at N, having at leat one good map to your name, and immeasurable bragging rights. If these don't entice you, pretend I'll name my first born after you while you are mapping, and when you win and are let down, play your map and be satisfied. Satisfied?

Here here.

Sadly, this is why I don't make many maps. I've never known if my maps are any good due to the variation in the way people rate, and hence don't submit a large proportion of my creations for fear of contributing to this problem.

I'd love to take part in this - if only for the critique given at the end.

Then take part, just post maps and link them here.

The basics of this contest are really easy.

You guys don't get it really...You just make maps, post them to numa, and link em here...Just like old Neditors...

I get the whole announcing intent thing, I do...but this isn't a sign up thread, it's a map making thread.

It's original because it's retro-awesomeness.

i think this thread would be getting a lot more attention if your username was maximo...i know i skipped over it because i thought it was new person's contest idea (and those are usually poor)

maybe put something in the title that signals people to this?

Not a horrid idea...Honestly though, should it matter who posts the topic?

Didn't the last nedcon end prematurely and without results because the judges were lame? Are the judges not going to be lame this time?

the main reason for sucky maps is simply noobs, and everybody is a noob at one time or another.

there will always be noobs and sucky maps as long as there is Numa, unless we exlude those who dont make excellent maps 24/7.

i am right.

dont try to contradict me, because my perspective is more advanced then yours.

and so it goes, and so it goes, and so will you soon i suppose.

I don't understand why your posting this here. Dude, this isn't a place to debate, it's just a tournament. I'm sure innuendo (Maximo) has been here long enough for him to know that as well.
