That's what I suggested but nobody responded as to whether or not they would.
isaacx quoted me on it but I guess didn't see the part where I said they would have to find a different place to decide who judges what.
So what is there to do in the contest once you've become the champion and have been beaten? Do you win, congratulations? Nothing but scrimmages to farm points?
Also, with the week structure set up the way it is, there will be about five people who all earn the right to be the first champion, at the same time. Further complications with the champion rules occur when more than one person wants to challenge the champion per week, and more than one has winning maps.
Maybe an Elite Four is in order, although I'm not sure how that helps the Champion issues other than putting them off a little longer.

Judges should be posting to comment on whose challenges they're covering. I want to keep that going because it's the simplest way to avoid confusion. They should also be picking up the remaining challenges soon, if we want to be on time for Week 3. (Any Judges who are available, please wrap those up. Thank you.)
You're forgetting Special Events, Zivilyn. I have a map of Neditor Nation that I did GBA-Pokemon-style in Photoshop. It came out really well, and I'll put it up soon, I think. There are more than nine cities (Start + each Gym), though. I have at least 15 city-dots on the map. So yes, the contest will grow. We're still figuring out the basics, though. When we get going strong, more will come into play. ;)
As for facing the Champion, only one can challenge each week, first-come, first-served.
As for deciding a Championship tie, I'd say scrimmage all the hopefuls against each other. The one who wins the most scrimmages is the Champion. Even better, we could have one Judge score all the maps, and take the highest-scoring map.
Right now, I'm going to get to work confirming the rest of those demos.
Edit: All demos for Week 2 confirmed. :)
Edit: The To-Judge List:
-- Hoohah2x2sday (check!)
-- addicted_ancestor (check!)
-- Destiny (check!)
-- notsteve (check!)
-- Max_Ride (check!)
-- TribulatioN (check!)
-- spudzalot
Judges, please score these as soon as you are able so I can begin compiling this week's results.

I had time earlier in the week, but now we'll have to wait until next week for me to get a reasonable amount of time again.
Sorry.
Sorry.

Suggestion: In the event of a tie, you yourself (Pheidi) make a map, as many people as possible judge it (take the average), then the hopefuls pit themselves against it.
However, you seem to have this under control, and I really doubt that anyone is going to beat a few of these maps anytime soon, so it doesn't matter.
EDIT: Sorry, this really should go under the discussion thread. Oh well.

Yes, I judged isaacx and stonedeagle. Now, I have time, so I'll take max_ride and TribulatioN.
I've been thinking about forwarding results to the Neditors, but I haven't done so yet.tinkers7777 wrote:In other words, yes. Please, send me the judges comments. I'm not on the computer with the spreadsheet right now, but I will be after track practice this morning. I'll process these results then (in a few hours), and hopefully we'll have spudz's results in as well so we can be done with challenges for this week. Then we'll just have to worry about scrimmages until Week 3. ;)

Back from practice. 'Twas just a /bit/ cold.
That's good news, Brainwasher. All the other results have been processed, by the way. Week 2 will end at midnight on Sunday night, right on schedule, but there's still time for scrimmages! I'm happy to say we've had two this week already. Good to see the involvement. :)
Edit: Updated first post with a few tweaks, most importantly the line about comments from the Judges.
EditAgain: All of the results for this week's challenges have been processed and sent to the proper recipients.

Begin Week 3! To clarify, this week will follow the same procedure as the previous two. After this week, we will take a two-week break for the holidays, during which we'll be retooling the Gym challenge procedure. Week 4 will begin on Monday, January 5th, and will use whatever new challenge model we devise during the break. There's already talk about possible new procedures in the Discussion Thread, so head over there to put your ideas into the mix.
Edit: To clarify my clarification, the difference between this week and the other two is that Judges /must/ provide comments with their scores. No need for a novel, just a quick blurb about what you liked/didn't like about the map should suffice.
