I'll be in. Am I making 5 or 10 maps?

In other news, playtesting should be optional, just as it is for anything.

And a judging panel isn't a bad idea, but keep in mind the quantity of maps that have to be tested. 50 people at 5 maps each is 250 maps for EACH judge to go through. You guys want an epic pack, okay, but the pack can't be epic if it collapses under its own weight.

yeah, it's going to take a while. i wouldn't be averse to increasing the number of judges to 15 or so, if that's what you're suggesting. i know i would be willing to do that.

i'm about to propose a list to klankaos. when kaos, chaostar, and i have our lists together, we'll come up with a single list of judges. we will then submit that list to the community to be edited. once the judges are in place, phase 2 will begin, and mappers will begin mapping for the pack.

Avarin, we're going to end up making 10 maps each. And the judging panel does not have to be a fixed panel - if people feel that the workload is too much, they can freely drop out of judging and let someone else take their place. In fact, it'll be almost better that way - then everyone will have more of a say in how the pack does.

And the reason I'm thinking playtesting should be done on every map is that we're trying to make this our highest-quality mapping, and one person can't catch all the little nuances in a map that make it great, especially not if it's their own map.

chaostar, remember to update the first post saying that maps should not be submitted to numa. also, we're not quite in phase 2 yet. the list of participants is not yet complete.

Bah! I wrote a really long post to answer Avarin and you guys made it basically useless <_< That's what I get for multi-tasking.

I'll just say this:
This is pretty unorganized, but I think it's good that we all get a say in how it will be run. It just makes it that much more of a team project rather than ChaoStar's map pack with a bunch of current authors submitting maps to it.

We'd prolly lose alot if we didn't accept already numa'd maps..
Each submitter is allowed 2 numa previews if desired??

martyr, that would decrease the freshness of the pack. i don't think submitting levels to numa is a good idea. and randomdigits, this started out fairly unorganized, but it has a definite structure to it now. i think we're getting somewhere with this.

we're also about to propose the list of judges. once we make our proposal, everyone will be able to make suggestions as to who should be the judges. (@kaos: i think we should do that in the judging thread)

I agree. No previously NUMA-subbed maps, if at all possible.

And as for previews, once the map is nearly complete, everyone can release one of their maps from the pack to NUMA as a teaser, because that's fun and it'll draw a lot of attention to the pack.

EDIT: Signups are indeed complete! Awesome! So we'll have about a day of downtime, possibly two, before we get the judging sorted and submissions can begin! I'll PM everyone with the whole shebang in about a day, with everything all collected and all the info you need in one place and easily understood (hopefully).

can we password the MOA judging thread and only give the pass to the 50 said artists?
Better yet, get a freewebs site or something

Maybe that's an OK idea. I've been thinking something along those lines, actually, but I thought it might be a little *too* secure. But you never know. I'd be into hosting a basic InvisionFree forum or something for this, if everyone's interested in that, because privacy is good for this.

Okay, I guess we kinda have to accept Radium, 'cause submissions weren't technically closed when he submitted. But he makes 51, and so I'm just gonna say that this has enough authors going and we're done accepting new mappers.

Now, do you guys seriously want to set up our own InvisionFree forum? Or even ask one of the admins to set us up a sub-board on these forums? Because I'm all for privacy in this until it's released. I want it to be awesome, amazing, and perfect, and the way things are going people will be able to see the maps pre-release. So do you guys want to make this even more private?

I'm all for more private. It would be cool if we could make a different archive just for this.

I've tossed a PM Dave's way about creating a private forum on these boards for our use. Everyone involved in mapping for the mappack would be allowed in. Cross your fingers =) I'm really glad so many people seem to be as excited as I am for this pack. This is going to be a great thing, it really is.

Hey Chaostar, could you PM or leave a comment for everyone who has an MOA tagged map to take it off? Because it's not really a done deal yet, and many might not actually make it. I think there shouldn't be a list of MOA maps yet (like you have on the front post), because we don't actually know if they ARE moa maps yet. We could have something like a list or a txt. file (as suggested previously), where you have everybody's and we each have our own; you could even post a compilation of everybody's. BUT, I don't think we should start recording any except our own, until we are sure they are part of the pack (i.e., once they've been judged.)
Many people seem to believe that because you gave them the thumbs-up their maps are already part of the pack; people need to know that no maps are definitely part of the pack yet, and they shouldn't put them on NUMA as part of the pack. Thanks,
mop

for those of us who are waiting for the list of judges to be proposed, we are awaiting chaostar's proposal. when we have it, we will put out the list for general comment and suggestion.

Good call, M_o_P. But still, I think that NOTHING AT ALL should be submitted to NUMA until EVERYTHING's a done deal. I gotta go now - I'll elaborate more later. Sorry.
