This thread would be good if it actually discussed certain issues of bullying, and not just a general overview poll.

Most people here would have experienced either end of the bullying spectrum. We've all been in situations where we can play either role.

I too ave been bullyied, not really major, and it didn't last. Someone in my class is the centre of bullying. The only reason is everything he does is hilarious, he also lacks common sense.

When people try to bully me, I typically just start ranting about them until they leave.
It somehow works sometimes.

This is a silly topic. We know bullying is bad.

So, I'm rehauling the topic:

What makes bullies bully other people?

Discuss.

I've been bullied for the mass majority of my life and I just have to say one thing.. I hope they all suffer some horrible consequences. I dislike bullies, and I hope something eradicates them or something. in the 8th grade I was bullied all the time, and it was horrible, people were always being douches to me, and could explain why I'm the way I am today. In fact, when I finally stood up to him, I didn't fight back, I'm not a fighter. So, he pushed me around, I sat down, and he beat the living shit out of my face. I didn't budge, people asked me if he was hurting me, and I said no. Why I didn't fight, you ask? If I had fought, I would've been suspended for sticking up for myself, which is find to be THE dumbest rule in schools ever.. if someone is hurting you, you should be able to rip them a new asshole and be done. Either way, because I didn't fight back, he was taken to jail (IN THE 8TH GRADE!). Also, in the 6th grade some kid was literally beating me with a wristband and I would go home with red marks all over my wrists, the kid finally drove me off the deep end and I kicked him, then told on myself due to the fact that I broke a rule. We were both suspended. Finally, in the same school, some kid thought it'd be cool to stab me with a pen to "see if the fat would drain out."

So no, I HATE bullies more than anything, and someone needs to step in and stop them. They will never help society in any way, and therefore need to stop them at all costs. Also, the cursing, sorry if I did it too much, albeit, I only did it twice.

I was bullied i grade school by a douche who was 15 and was still in the 7th grade. I never found out why though. I tripped him down the stairs (32 steps) and never got caught. That took away my problems...

I'm sure a lot of you will be completely unsurprised, but I was kind of a bully in my elementary school and middle school days, although I personally would consider it just being a royal douche since I was never interested in beating anyone up. I'm big and imposing, and was as a kid as well, so I probably could have, but I never did. I think what made me different from the typical school bully, though, was that I got off on starting conflicts and coming out on top, and not at all on picking on someone who couldn't or wouldn't fight back. That was just plain boring, and I was soft-hearted enough (or well-adjusted, really) to feel like shit if I ever hurt someone who wasn't looking for a fight.
That led to me picking on the bullies themselves, but that also got boring pretty quick because most of them couldn't take what they were dishing out. It was like picking on retards, and I felt bad doing that, too.
I still get into shit-flinging contests with some people I know, but most of those people are friends who are also just in it for entertainment value.

EDIT:
Snugs, I would like to have met some of those kids who did that shit to you. There's little more satisfying than humiliating a bully in front of his victim. I mean, I'd help you out for your sake, too, but I'm not gonna lie, part of the motivation for me to step up would come from the satisfaction of giving an asshole what he deserves.

I'm waiting for the day someone starts a thread called "What do you think of the Holocaust?", with the options being "Great!" "Meh." and "I don't like it."

Also, bullying is evil. Just say no to bullying, kids.

I used to think that bullies would get what's coming to them. Now i realise that they just move on into jobs where they can bully people as a career, ie: bodyguard, armed forces, gym teacher.

Generally, bullies have had some event in their life to create this build-up of anger inside of them. Well, it's what ABC News told me.

You go to a school with 600 people.. of course there aren't any bullies. The schools I've gone to had between 1500-3000 people in them, so bullies were there. Also, it doesn't matter where you live, there are assholes everywhere, I'm sorry if this surprises you. Another thing, and even though I don't want to be a complete douche, but at least make some attempt to spell stuff properly, as, I don't think people will take you serious when u type lik this.

My school has 1200 people. This reminds me, in a school the my friends cousing goes to its just a secondary school with 1600 students. 1 of which (a year 10) doesn't know what a cylinder is and is a bully. Australia, typical Australia.
