Just about every user in this community should have read a book and enjoyed it. Many of you would have had to write essays and stories. Projects and assignments. Well now it's your time to shine!

I've had the idea what with all these talented members here on the forums why not write a book! Writing a electronic novel to show off, boast about and be proud with.

Why not? What's there to lose? Before I get into details I was hoping for some ideas and criticism from you experienced member out there. Will this even work? I think even with a dozen people this project will be fun. But what do you think? Does our community have the zing and jist to write a novel?

Here's my plan, follow this to be part of our project!

At the moment, we've decided our idea. To be a part of it, simply pm me anything you can add to the idea or an example of some writing from the idea:

Title: ---
Characters: Members of the Metanet community
Climax/Problem: A real life event that relates to the forums (ie, a giant war headed by b_t could be the Tetris Takeover)
Length: 10-100 pages
Location: The Forums
Tense and Time: Medievil, Lord of the Rings time
Genre: Lord of the Rings genre

As you can see it must be very detailed, so others can get a real feel of the novel from your descriptions and ideas. We will decided on the plot, then we'll all participate in writing small parts of the novel as assigned. And after all this I hope to have a story, a narrative, novel or adventure. It would be anything you would want it to be.

But what do you say after all this typing? Is it worth it and feel free to share your ideas!

Participants:

Me, gloomp, 29403, Lenny, jackass, Laurie, Nspired, spoon, Donfuy, kablamo, incluye, aperture, Communist, Destiny, BionicCryonic, Guiseppi, and possibly Obylisk.

I hope each and every single one of you enjoy this project, for all I too am treasuring the moment such a novel is over.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy it! :D - Rikaninja

This sounds like a good idea; I'm in on this.

Title: The Excelsior Institute

Characters: A 16 year old girl finds out she has the power to kill bad people with her mind, but only if ghe truly desires it. Her mother left her father about three years ago, leaving the father to parent the girl and her two yonger brothers. There is also the people from The Excelsior Institute, a mysterious organisation that reveals itself later in the book...

Problem: The girl sets out to kill all of the world most horrible leaders; however, she faces a dilema; she can't kill any of them, as she doesn't know anything about, about what they're like. So she runs away from home, and using various contacts and friends, she starts to work for Robert Mugabe as a slave, in hope that she will come to hate him enough to kill him...

Also, make a channel in the IRC for this; #MetaNovel, or something.

Okay. Thanks for the support guys. I'll pay more attention to this now on. And you two, there's no one to vote on you yet. Also I'll have a list of participants on the thread. As well as editing the post for some of the finer details in the ideas and rules.

@ Universe Zero, the layout of the plans will be based on your post but maybe modified :) Thnx guys.
Also @ Universe Zero, I don't have mIRC. It costs money doesn't it? Or is that for subscription, and you don't need subscription?
Either way I don't have the program. Though I would really want to add this there.

Sounds neat; I'm in.

Title: No clue
Characters: At least one female and one male - we can't have a massive uneven character base.
Problem: One of them finds out something interesting and goes in search of answers... or something.
Length: Probably anywhere from 3-6.
Location: Anywhere, really.
Tense and Time:Probably the present time, or roughly then.
Writing Style: Maybe comedic horror. Or something. Any is good.
Pictures: I'd vote against these....

I think that each person writing different parts of the same narrative would just get too confusing. How about having one concrete storyline but from the perspective of multiple people? That way style wouldn't randomly change mid-paragraph.

IDEA NUMBER TWO: Or, we could continue the idea of having everyone write little bits and pieces, but then when it is finished have one or two people go through the whole thing and polish it up, or something around that. I just question the ability of the majority of the people here to be able to write a decent "novel".

Other than that, it sounds like an interesting idea. Not sure if I'm in.

I'm all for a member-based novel, although many would have to change their names to more... usual ones.

Put me in.

Since I don't have the Bible at home, I looked up for some online version, I got onto this; can you tell me which one of those Bibles is the most common and accepted version of the Bible?
And on the topic of Satan, I think it should be someone who's done something really bad, but since I'm pretty new here, I don't know for such events. Of course, if something evil didn't happen here, we can make the story up.

So, MetaBible, yes or no?
