I dunno if you guys know about this site, but I thought I'd get a little discussion going. For those of you who don't know about TED, it stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. The site has videos of several presentations that have been made at these conferences about all kinds of subjects: arts, music, technology, gadgets, business, philosophy etc.

If you're interested check out some of the videos, and then what you could do is post a link to a video and give a brief description of what it was about and your thoughts on it. Then others can respond and comment on the video and your views. You could then post a link to a new video, but try and be courteous and allow some meaningful posts to be made for the previous one first.

I'll start with this video: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/rive ... icons.html

It's a short video of a quirky little story told through emoticons. Entertaining in itself, I think it brings up interesting questions about whether things like smilies and leetspeak and so on are degrading communication or are in fact enriching it.

LittleViking actually turned me on to this one. It's a little wishy-washy but still an interesting story at the very least.

As soon as we wish to be happier, we are no longer happy.

I absolutely love http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/adam ... sions.html Adam Savage on Obsession. I see so much of myself in his story.
