I have an idea for next round, which is called early bird submission bonus

say, if the contest length is 10 days

Then if your final score submitted is the demo that you submitted at 1st day, your score +5

If you final score submitted is the demo that you submitted at 2nd day, your score + 4.5... and so on

In this case holding your best run and not to submit until the final moment...will not gain that much advantage.

*edited: wait, this idea sucks, it discourage ppl to improve their runs later on

I'm not part of this because I don't have time but I'll still occasionally post something. In this case I just want to say that sub-1050 frame AGD is possible.

sub 1050? thats crazy! I assume youre speaking of this weeks map, because I wouldn't think that sub 1100 would be possible. Im getting close, but an extra 50 frames past that seems rather difficult

ska you weren't on IRC ever :(

max_ride, if someone drops, you may take their place, so long as you assume all the points that person has, regardless of if they are in first or last.

Demo's have now been opened, you can view the demo's now.

Golden Player: romaniac (+1 point)
Who made the cut: 7 out of 20 (+1 point)

Group One:
FIRST - Infernus - 139.350 = 5 points
SECOND - Izzy - 139.200 = 4 points
THIRD - Be_Inspired - 131.775 = 2 point
FOURTH - SlappyMcGee - 129.525 = 1 points

Group Two:
FIRST - xaelar - 141.450 = 5 points
SECOND - esay - 130.275 = 3 points
THIRD - Kablamo_Boom - 124.925 = 2 points
FOURTH - Alex777 - 0.00 = -1 points

Group Three:
FIRST - romaniac - 142.100 = 6 points
SECOND - vankusss - 140.650 = 4 points
THIRD - LittleViking - 137.725 = 2 points
FOURTH - BNW - 136.775 = 1 point

Group Four:
FIRST - golfkid - 139.525 = 5 points
SECOND - ToeFaceKiller - 138.600 = 3 points
THIRD - Avarin - 135.675 = 2 points
FOURTH - Guiseppi - 0.00 = -1 points

Group Five:
FIRST - KinGAleX - 139.150 = 5 points
SECOND - Riobe - 129.825 = 3 points
THIRD - UniverseZero - 87.225 = 2 points
FOURTH - Leaff - 0.00 = -1 points

Also, now seems to be a good time to say how stupid I am! I completely forgot to mention wildcards in my post about how this competition is going to work. If it seems you have have drawn the short end on the straw in group pickings (like it seems in group 3 ;) ), you still have options! There will be 2 wildcards chosed to go onto the rounds after these initial three. This means there will be 12 people in round 4, not 10 as I had previously stated. This will leave 6 people in round 5, and 3 people in round 6. As you might see, this will allow the competition to run alot more smoothly ;). Happy Demo'ing!

Round one began and ended with romaniac. Romaniac was the first competitior to break all the barriers in this round (except the "make the cut" barrier, which was broken by vankusss). He was the first above 140, 141, and the only to get above 142! He must have liked this map very much to improve him demo to the point of where even xaelar was nearly a full second under him. Innovation was key on this map. When I set the "make the cut" mark, I thought about 139.500 would be about the max score you could get! After seeing all the innovations possible, I was astounded! You all sure are smart <3. There was at least one big innovation on the way up to the trapdoor switch. You can see that in romaniac and vankusss' demos. Just when I thought you couldn't get over 140 without that innovation, xaelar gets over 141 without it! Crazy! Golfkid, Dan_K, Izzy and KinGAleX also made the cut, all by a good margin. I was dissapointed by TFK's participation this round, he is obviously good enough to make the cut, but missed it by about 3 frames. Where is that highscoring spirit? Haha. I was impressed by the outshowing of group 3! They all got scores above 136.750, which is quite a margin over all the other groups. Three people did not even bother to play the map :(. All three of those players have started off the competiton with negative points now. Thats a hole no one wants to climb in!

Hold on a sec, there. I submitted a perfectly valid run under my NUMA username, Nexx. I would have mentioned the name difference from the outset, but you and I have seen each other around for so long that I assumed you would remember. It's no biggie that you didn't - after all, you know what they say about making assumptions...

But yeah, check again, and then make those negative points go away. :)

By the way the 1050 frame route is just romaniac's route except for the second group of gold running down the right side and doing a perpendicular jump off the left side. It's possible but difficult to get all the gold in that cluster using that method and it saves about two seconds.

I tried that in FBF, and its even hard there. I saw that during the round though :(

Maybe since the cut off point is so low this week, more people can make the cut
