I live in the US, so it's either TV or television. No in-betweens. Edit: On second thought, looking at the choices, they're all silly except the first one.

Hahah, man, I can't see myself sincerely saying the word "telly" in speech. As LV said, gotta be television or TV, and nothing in between. Most commonly TV.

Anyway, as demonstrated above, I'd go with telly if I had to abbreviate it like that.

I only say "telly" when I'm doing my hi-larious British accent.

I usually say TV myself, sometimes Television, but never Tele.

If you're including ridiculous crap like "tellie," why not also include "boobtube," "the tev-box," and "the tay-tay?"

"Telly" is the only way to write that particular abbreviation, although I don't use it.

Tele would be my choice, not for it's illogicality but how it would be easily recognised when it's written. You would immediately know that it refers to television. But yeah, TV is how it's always been.

PsychoSnail brings up a good point. It's interesting how different languages handle the abbreviation.

In Italian, it's la TV (pronounced alot like TiVo, incidentally)
In Japanese, it's テレビ (terebi)

And in German it's der Fern, the full word being der Fernseher. Always love to be different, Germans.

Actually, Fernseher has very much the same literal meaning as television (distant sight), it's just in German instead of Latin.

I personally called it the TV, but when I flew to LF's house all I heard was Telly. Of course.. I WAS in England.
