The most hardcore album, bar none. Lunacy, and I love it.

Also Dvořák's Symphony in E minor, Op.95. I have the version conducted by István Kertész, he conducts with a lot of energy. What I like about it is that Largo is not too slow. Still very evocative though.

recently got into a japanese downbeat artist known as "jemapur" hes pretty awesome, his first album "dok springs" is very laid back, with some clear minamilist influences. The sheer variety is amazing, one minute your listening to a minimalist tempo shifting piece like "bird sanctuary", the next you listening to the fast, choppy, hip hop terror "off the wall". The album is a little hard to find, as jemapur isn't very well known, but its an absolute gem :).

His second album "evacuation" is a contrast to his original work, with step away from jazzy melodys, into the deep end of electronica, this album is not for the faint hearted, some of the songs on there with no melody, and practically 5 minutes of the same thing. But don't get me wrong, it still is fantastic, just a little less commercial :)

Baroness, Converge, and Torche. Slowly moving away from post-hardcore and into more abrasive and metallic acts. I find myself going through this same cycle each year.

i found an amzing electronica artist while browsing through youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAwR6w2TgxY

this song is basically using various samples from the disney film "alice in wonderland". I'm just sitting here with it on repeat. This is awesome, very laid back, but with a groovy beat :)

a mixture of techno, ambient and electronic
PLEASE CHECK IT OUT!

edit: unfortuantly, his other songs aren't as good :/
"alohabama" is alright, but the other ones seem quite boring
edit2:found out, the artists name is "pogo"

Dev/Null...some crazy breakcore guys the free media blog gave me.

There sound is so captivating. I can only describe it as Cattle Decapitation (minus the vocal, and yes there is a band called that) took a massive amount of ecstasy and made rave music somewhat reminiscent of Satan kicking Pac-Mans ass in an intergalactic death match.

Absoutely, but I think he could've done better on that album. On "Fleet Foxes" he improved much, so much that I actually purchased the hard copy!

  • Goldfinger is cool, but I think their cover of "99 Red Balloons" sums up my opinion of them.
  • Less Than Jake has a few really good songs ("The Rest of My Life", for example) but I find their music slightly void of uniqueness.
  • Reel Big Fish is a offbeat comedic group. They're just plain funny. *starts to sing "Beer."*

My three favourite album covers from my new favourite noise-pop, no-wave genius, JG Thirlwell, aka Foetus, aka Clint Ruin. If the name doesn't ring a bell, he does the score for the Venture Bros... and if that doesn't set off something in your head, I feel sorry for you. Anyway, he's an extremely dark, dense, unique musician... love it.

I've recently acquired a taste for dubstep. I don't know why. I just like the sound.

Also, @handofgod: YES DEV/NULL AND BREAKCORE ARE AWESOME WOOOOO (Also, I liked dev/null before the media blog posted it. Bragging rights ftw!)

Here's a blast from the past.

Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay.

But who can forget The Lonely Island with such favorites as:

>Jizz In My Pants
>I'm On A Boat
>Like A Boss
>Dick In A Box

Such clean and peaceful music. XD

The Sound of Animals Fighting. I've become fascinated with their last album The Ocean and the Sun. They are a progressive rock band, and a little experimental. They have pretty chill moments, and then moments of quite unique and complicated guitar and drum serieses. A good band to search...
I execute position 12 of the Kama Sutra... Passion fills the room.
