I would have a major problem with this rule.

There are some weeks when I post fifteen maps. Does this mean they're spammed? No; I don't even sub half the maps I make to NUMA nowadays. It's just that I have a lot of free time, especially now that it's summer break.

My quote referred to all who had commented so far. You would be one of the mappers that would get PRIVILEGES.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING

I believe that nobody should have to suffer a Viper. (Viper is the first mapmaker to get no ratings) It is not enjoyable when one of your maps gets no comments. You (the people that have commented) have never (At least in a long time) experienced the HEART-WRENCHING feeling from getting no comments on your maps. Again, I stress privileges.
Who's this viper dude and why haven't you commented and rated his/her maps?

Lots of newbies on Numa usually makes maps like these, the get ignored. With this limitation, quality of the maps would increase also.

That's more than something.

After some thought, I doubt this would be the case in the slightest. There are enough users out there who have absolutely no concept of what constitutes good design to mean that maps like the above will always be near the majority of those submitted.

And this viper guy you mention, no wonder he has so little votes and comments: His maps are atrocious.

You are right at some point.

People would submit best maps they did, also why would they submit maps that would already get rated 2,1 or zero?

On the other hand, majority (about 65%) of the members in Numa is not taking mapping seriously. They would submit their bad maps even though there is a limitation.

Although, I'm right at some point too. :/

I have not commented or rated Viper's maps because he is not around anymore. I disagree if their is limitations and more people will take a look at your map, then you would want to make it your very best. The reason I made such a huge limitation is that with only 2 maps a week you would have time to really make corrections and play test before you submitted. I am tired of seeing maps that have been worked on for a long time get shoved off the hot maps page by people like Boondocks69. I know that I might get some criticism seeing how I made some bad maps to laud PALEMOON, but I have now started to take mapping more seriously and think I can be good. Oragami Alligator gave me great advice on one of my maps, and for that I am grateful. It helped me become better, but this sort of help is rare on NUMA. I think that SOMETHING must be done. I do not care if it is limitations or something entirely different, but it is too hard to break through in the NUMA hierarchy.

Imposing such a massive the community is not the answer. And even with it, maps that are currently considered not worthy of a view would most likely still be ignored.

If you want feedback, you need to get involved, or simply ask people for help. If that doesn't work then you're just going to have to produce better maps. Unfortunately, below average things don't get the same attention as better, and we're not here to hold the hand of every new user.

We all came here and started from nothing, the same resources are available to us all.

I never proposed hand holding, but a little more criticism would be nice. I think that this idea will lead to better maps. Your atob not everybody can be an atob.

And I think this idea would stagnate a thriving community and the awful maps would continue to be awful and ignored.

And, for clarity, I've been with PALEMOON since my first post. This is a bad idea.

Considering all of METANET is going against me... and if you can't beat them join them... NO LIMIT! IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!

But seriously it just seems that it could work better.

Kinda big problem: I bet the list of mappers I think are known to make good maps is really, really short. Lots shorter than anyone else's. Therefore, it would piss me off if Yahoozy got to spam maps and xdude did not.

We should do a poll to see if majority thinks it would work or not.

It's an awful idea that would:

Cause a thriving community to stagnate.
Wouldn't fix the problems it's attempting to solve:
If you gave 'better' users privileges, the newer user's maps would be burried under the better maps and ignored even more.
without privileges, the crappy maps would either still be completely ignored, or comments made would be just as unproductive and unhelpful as they are now (READ: this map sucks lol, etc..).

Also, choosing who would be worthy of privilege would be too much of a headache and would cause too much upset and could inspire crap like elitism.

There's no need for a poll. A two map a week limit is never going to happen.

The token system that's being considered, or the old two map at a time queue, are both much better and thoughtful solutions.

I think we should make every use on NUMA submit at least 2 maps per week. Otherwise they are banned. Forever.

What is the token system?
I think there is already elitism on this site.
And there has been the two map at a time rule, but has there ever been such a drastic limitation? How will you truly know unless you try? I propose 1 week where you can only post 2 maps that week. 1 week will not end the entire N community. PALEMOON I am sorry (you know I love you) but you can always save your maps for the next week.

Please, feel free to expand upon the idea and use our criticism to refine it. Two maps a week won't work, but a limit of sorts might be good. Keep thinking, the last thing I wanted was to kill this discussion entirely.

I can't find a link to the proposed token system, if anyone has that could they post it please?

How about this...
There would be a Hot Maps page and a New Maps page.
The New Maps page would act like the present Hot Maps page.
The Hot Maps page would be more name fitting, and only maps that have gotten a public rating get listed on it.
I think this is good because it is not limiting mappers, but it is separating the good maps from the bad.

****
I understand that there is a problem with good mappers that don't like their maps rated, but I just thought of this and wanted to put it out there. If you think it might be good help make my idea better, if not well... back to the drawing board.
