1. I'm sure they have their reasons.
2. Or just rate it what you think it should be rated.

Malicious intent.

I honestly don't give a cookie if someone snipes me. All it shows is that they either have no opinion or are too scared/obnoxious/cthultu to present it to me. And besides, since when is my subjective happiness with a map dictated by anyone else's decision, let alone rating?

Ratings are meaningless in showing any kind of quality, because what people think is a "4" or a "3" varies wildly from person to person. Hence, you can't trust it for squat. I only use the ratings system for float bonuses.

What? If that's intended at me, I'd like to say one thing: it's spelled C-T-H-U-L-H-U. Plus I have no idea what you mean by that anyway.

Y'know, I've been seeing this kind of thing a lot recently. Everyone seems to be moaning about the rate system; if it's so worthless, then it needs to be either fixed or removed, although seeing as Arachnid and the admins seem to have a lot of stuff on their plate, this is unlikely to happen any time soon.

The point is that ratings are mostly arbitrary. This statement is backed up by the lack of decent comments and intelligent feedback, with shallow comments such as "wow best map I've ever played 5/5" in place.

They're largely worthless, but those who consider them to be so will just ignore them. Those who enjoy them will do that, too. If you're annoyed by snipers, then disable ratings, the only solution to the sniping issue would be to remove ratings entirely anyway so unless you can get over it in your own head you may as well do this.

There's no need to remove voting entirely when the solutions are so simple.

Aha, I wasn't referring to you. It's just the first thing that popped into my head, I promise :P

Removed the link. No need to ridicule the guy. I do agree with you, though.

Just click on a few maps a couple of times a day and you'll find exactly what Micky was referencing.
