The Mars Volta, I think this one kind of stuck close to what they're good at. I was a bit disappointed, I didn't hear any spanish, and I kind of love when Cedric sings spanish. Out of the whole album though I like 6 of the songs. Two of them, not so much.

D'où je viens le temps n'existe pas,
Les secondes deviennent des heures,
Les années de courts instant sitôt envolés
Et nos mots trompeurs sont remplacés
Par la musique et les couleurs
Qui flottent commes des parfums dans l'air ambré

toasters has introduced me to a sweet artist called Nujabes, and he's really great. I've gotten a bunch of other great stuff from our samplings, but he really stands out.
EDIT: I finally got to listen to the one of his full albums, Metaphorical Music. It is really fantastic. Can't wait to get some of his other stuff.
I'm still listening to a lot of Gorillaz, Radiohead, etc. as well.
That too. :3toasters wrote:And all the speed/j/techno/somethingorother - core music that sidke and PALEMOON have turned me on to :D
On a side note, before I started this post I looked at my "Recently Played" playlist and noticed how there were 327 songs. o_o

Silver Starling: Arcade Fire Lite. Wasn't bad, but wasn't great.
La Roux: Like chewing bubblegum while drowning at the bottom of the ocean. Wasn't great.
Parlovr: Pretty awesome. Very balls.
Gentleman Reg: Mugatu Sings Folk! It was quite good.
Flash Lightin': Unimpressive. Walked away.
The Stills: Way Overrated by the Montreal crowd. Only watched it to be in the front row for...
Lykke Li: Absolutely fantastic. She's heartbreaking as well as completely awesome. Also, she rapped.
Girl Talk: Probably the best or second best thing I saw. Thousands and thousands of sweaty bodies dancing under the command of this weird dude who mashes and writes things like "J TAIME!!!1" on his projector screen. Leaf blowers launching toilet paper and water onto the crowd. Giant balloons filled with smaller balloons thrown out into the audience. All in all, six kinds of awesome.
Day 2:
Beast: Not as good as I was expecting, what with me and Tanner representing their fanbase.
(Went to a restaurant because of Rain, watched repeats of Cake Boss on TLC, went back five hours later.)
The Decemberists: When they work, they really work, but they played all of Hazards of Love, so there were some slowpoints. Mainly, whenever Becky Stark took the microphone away from Meloy.
Heartless Bastards: A surprise. Good, if a little bit too country at times. The drummer was excellent.
Hey Rosetta!: The one thing that compares to Girl Talk in sheer awesome. Arcade Fire meets The Hold Steady, and we were a crowd of at least a thousand who knew all of the words and loved to dance. It was absolutely beautiful.
And I went home, because I was wet and didn't think Crystal Castles would be very fun after Hey Rosetta!

The Stills are the worst band I've ever seen live. And I'm including the you-less Hooke's Law that played the Freak Show.SlappyMcGee wrote: The Stills: Way Overrated by the Montreal crowd. Only watched it to be in the front row for...
Also, what the fuck. Why did no one ever tell me that the Hold Steady were like an indie-cool Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? Hell, even referring to them as a Brooklyn-based indie-rock band would have been enough to get me interested.
I've been giving Sigur Ros a chance lately. They aren't bad. Blows my mind that their lead singer is a guy.
Oh, and weezer.

I saw him live at Sasquatch! Music Festival in May and he was easily one of the best performances of the entire weekend. Did you know he's performing a 24-hour concert in Chicago on December 21, 2012?SlappyMcGee wrote:Well, I attended Osheaga, Montreal's best two-day music festival, and I thought I'd give some highlights:
