I'm not sure whether to post this in the NReality main hread or in here, but since the former has now apparently completely died, I guess I'll mention it here then.

The practice mode bug in userlevels still hasn't been fixed yet. I know it's been fixed in v6d4, but there are still some people who are submitting practice mode scores from earlier versions of NReality and they are accepted by the database. Like nick123456789. Argh - I want at least a chance of retaking my 7654...

I think the problem's becoming quite widespread. Unless there is some way to identify all the practice mode scores on the database, it seems that individual removal of these scores will become really tedious.

I used to maintain 1000 NReality Level Top20 Highscores - Ranked 0th
Former Owner of Episode 169, way back when.
I've taken 10 Metanet 0ths. 6 of them lasted <2 days. I don't have any of them anymore. >:(

I would like for tile drones to be able to pass through existing tiles the same way that ghost drones are able to; so perhaps a new ghost drone that follows a set path, does not chase the ninja, and can lay tiles over existing tiles. Another idea is a locked door that has a timer before it closes again. The ability to control the _alpha and _icon of switches, so that door switches can be invisible or unique. Continuing with timers, some sort of switch that deactivates a laser temporarily so that the ninja can pass through a doorway (i.e. deadly laser door), this might be possible with special triggers and laser drones, but it is still missing a timer component.

Why not just add all the mods into Nreality Ned, then we would be able to just select a mod and ajust it fitting our needs entierly. Then we wouldn't have to download kk's mod-maker thingy, and it wouldn't even exist anylonger...

You can use an area trigger activated by drones to do this. A map by Unreality should show the basic concept, look around for it.

The closest I could get to what I wanted is the following:

The laser icon doesn't move once activated by the area trigger. Without the icon:


But here are the problems even with the set up- once activated, the thwump will continue to move in and out of harm's way because coordinate pathing is required over custom pathing to maintain the thwump's ability to kill the ninja. I could add :NaN as one of the coordinates in the thwumps path, but I would like for the "door" to be operable more than once.

That'd be awesome, to have an automatic NED saver, where you press the S key and it saves a custom titled map for you in a file of your choice, similar to a word document.

A ghost ninja, let me explain:

Whenever you get a best time on a map, it will create a ghost run on it.
Maybe make a level data like $name#author#type#map data#demo data#
Your demo data on the level will be put behind the code whenever you get a new record.
This way you can also copy&paste a xaelar highscore on that map behind it,
and try to beat the xaelar ghost.
Whenever you decide to go back to that map again, the ghost N will run too.
Making you able too see if you go fast enough to beat the old time.

This could maybe also be done with current highscores, so you can beat highscores that way.
You select a highscore you're trying to beat and it will run it on the original map you play.
This will be default set to the current 0, although NReality will have to fix the impossible highscores for this....

And then make it possible to turn this on/off in the "configure" menu.

That has been asked for probably the most out of every suggested mod... The reason it won't be done is for lag. You'd have to run seperate N's in the same window, and N is already very computer intensive.

That sucks... But would it lag for everyone because if it doesn't count for everyone,
maybe it's an idea to put it defaultly off, and let it be manually turned on?

Two suggestions:

1. Remove the speedhack check from underclock mode. Just now I was about 6 frames from the exit of 30-2 on underclock mode with -200 speed when I got that error. It would've improved my run too, which takes the piss.

2. Underclock speedrun mode; I'm a fan of underclock, I'm a fan of speedrun, I'm not that great with highscores. I think underclock speedrun mode would be awesome.

This is a really small thing, but it'd be nice if the legacy columns actually had the names of the authors there, e.g. 145-3 would say "Episode 145 Level 3: Pisces Princess#Nevermore" instead of "Episode 145 Level 3: Pisces Princess#Legacy Team".

I have a highscore-related suggestion. Would it be possible to also record the "=" scores? This could mean that people who have maxed 59-0, 90-2 etc... for example also get a bit more recognition on the highscores as it'll increase their "=" count.

After all, equaling the best run, especially when the run is maxed, is just as great of an accomplishment as getting a *

An 'avoid the gold' mode, whereby the game timer starts from 0.025 and counts upwards; players with the lowest remaining time at the end of the map win.

For example, the rankings would look something like: 0th - Player 1 - 19.075, 1st - Player 2 - 23.925, etc...
The point is simply to complete the map in the quickest time whilst avoiding any unnecessary gold.

Circular/Distance Triggers - A trigger which checks if the ninja is within a certain distance or radius of an object or point. This would be the greatest thing in the history of the world ever and I would use it every day. This shouldn't be that hard also because the code must already exist for the force field drone.

AI speed pathing - Basically AI chase pathing but where the object speeds up or slows down when the ninja gets closer to it. So you could gold which runs away from you when you get close to it but otherwise dosen't go of the map and drones which chase you when you get near them but don't bother you if you stay clear.

Highscore Mode switching - Little buttons which switch between Highscore, Speedrun and Underclock (and survival) modes in the userlevels section like near the top right or something to stop the endless reconfiguration and reloading of maps.

Survival maps highscoring - I love survivals and would love if there was a way to competitively high score them here are 3 ways you could do this.
You could have nreality set so it automatically detects if a level doesn't have an exit and switches the scoring where it allows death demos and ranks by most time or frames
Or you could have it so you add survival after the last | much like you can currently add private contest or battle land which would make it a diffrent type of map which would automatically be recognised and score diffrently
Or it could me another view mode along with Highscore, Speedrun and underclock

They freeze you. it's like the laser drone, only slower (in firing, not speed), it's light cyan, and if the shot hits you your char turns light cyan and can't move. rockets/gauss can't hit you though.

I know that some of these ideas have been mentioned by my self and others in the past, but I am just trying to get all of my ideas in one place. These are a few additions that I think would be great for NReality. I have no idea as to the difficulty of the addition of these features, but I think they would be awesome to have.

- Ghosting:
This is used in Mario Kart 64 and many other racing games. A grey/semi-transparent ninja would play the lvl along side of you, this ninja would not react with drones or any objects for that matter, only tiles. This ninja would be following the replay data of the current 0th, or your personal best. I think would be cool to have because whether you are FBFing in NED or playing real time you would know how well you are doing compared to the current 0th, or personal best. (Possibly even any top-20.) I know I already mentioned this to you Unreality, but like I said before I am just listing all of the ideas I have for NReality.

- In Game Chat:
Unreality has said that he was working on this idea. So whenever we get to see this it will be awesome.

- Cursor Glitch With v6e:
I and a few others have v6e which was released to a few in IRC a few months ago. When in NED if you click in either of the two text boxes, level data or demo data, you can not remove that cursor from that text box by clicking on the background like in all previous versions of NReality. You must click in to the other text box to move the cursor. This is a issue for me at least, when editing really quickly I tend to leave random Es, 1s, and 2s at the demo of the lvl or demo data. I am just making you aware of this glitch so that it doesn't happen in v7.

- Tiles Overlap Display State:
Again another thing with v6e. When using display state and you get close to a tile, the tiles cover up the display that is closest to the tile. This is probably only a problem for me and maybe moh because when figuring out the exact frame you hit a ceiling the tiles above cover up the jump display. I would be nice if the display states were still visible when close to a wall.

- Doors that Open and Close:
It would be cool especially for puzzle making if you could make door open by a switch or area trigger, and then have it close by another switch, the same switch(if hit a second time), or area trigger.

- Multiple Door Trigger:
This idea kind of plays in to the one above. Having a single trigger that is set to multiple door, possible an option to be color coded. ie. the blue trigger opens/closes all blue doors. I know we can kind of already do this by just stacking triggers, but this would be much cooler if it was implemented as part of the game.

- TASing Tools (Rerecording and savestates):
I have also already mentioned this to Unreality, but I will say it again. I would love to see rerecording and savestates implemented in to NED. This would make making tool assisted speedruns much much much easier. This would also be helpful when testing the cheat-ability of a map if the cheat occurs far in to a hard make. That way you would not have to redo you whole run in FBF if you messed up far in to the run. You could just go back a few frames to your last savestate and play from their. This would also allow for full testing to map as you their absolute true maximum. A valuable number to know.

- Frame Count in NED:
I would love to see a frame count just like there is when playing any other level put in to NED. Just a simple counter up top where it usually is. It should count when playing in both real time and FBF and it should count during demo playbacks in NED. This would be really helpful when making demos manually, or if Unreality is able to implement savestates, it would be even more helpful then.

EDIT: Adding another

- Total Kill Count:
I think there should be a total kill count number right at the top of the kill count box in highscores. Yes I am that lazy and I don't want to add them up, but I think it would be a nice addition.

Again I do not know if any of these can be put in, but any or all would be great, so please do what you can Unreality. I may add more when I think of them.
