Honestly, Suki, either keep the debate on Facebook where we don't know about it or open the thread to everyone. I believe you referred to us as "a pack of fucking vultures" when referencing the forum members' tendencies to sweep in and reply to a new debate thread all at once—fuckin' deal with it. That's the point of debate. Obviously, since you've made a new thread, especially about such a sensitive topic, a lot of folks are going to reply at once. That's never stopped you before. What the fuck do you expect from the Debate forum?

Why on earth are you moving this thread over to here from Facebook, and then making it protected? Is Facebook honestly running out of space, or were you just eager to dangle the marrow-bone of juicy debate in front of the Metanet community's collective nose?

Dude, the debate isn't here for us. It's here for Tsukatu and Ardbob. If anything, Tsukatu is just being forward about his intentions, as opposed to *secretly* using the forums for his personal stuff. He needed a space to do that, and while I'd prefer if it was hidden just because it's a little annoying to look at, no harm, no foul.

The problem is that Facebook discussions were limited to a narrow column view and very strict rules on length. On a forum, you have a much clearer display of the progression of the debate (for easy quoting, if anything), as well as some very handy tools for showing emphasis.

As for "dealing" with you vultures... I think I did exactly that, didn't I? You won't interfere; you have been dealt with.
Besides which, a post in a public forum that brings with it pages upon pages of towerposts is made (rather, it should be obvious that it is made) with the intent to include anyone who reads it in the discussion. But when you want to have a one-on-one conversation, you don't want random people walking by, monologuing an opinion you didn't want to hear at the both of you, and departing.

I think Ardbob and I also found it more worthwhile if there was an audience. If you're not interested, don't audit.

I honestly don't see how it's a big deal... or even a small deal. It's not like I'm getting privileges above that of a normal member. This was the only way Tsukatu could make a thread that only him and I could join in on. We didn't want it to be open to everyone because then I would get raped by 50 responses. I am only human. I barely have time to respond to one person, let alone everyone.

But if it's causing trouble, just put me in the normal usergroup and we can do this the old-fashioned way: The Postal Service. No, not the band. It takes me a month to respond anyways, so send me your address and we'll mail letters back and forth, haha.
