That wasn't supposed to be known - A lot of moderation on NUMA for some time now has been scare tactics; granted, it should be there, but it's never been in-place, so we've just fudged it the entire time.Manus Australis wrote:What's left to discuss is why after 5 years of NUMA we still don't have IP checks/bans. We also don't have a moderator log. As far as a moderation staff goes, NUMA is lacking in some pretty important features. We have no paper trail for anything and now we've probably come to the point where it's blindsiding us.Avarin wrote:Having browsed the comments on that map cheesemonger linked to, can we just IP ban him and get it over with? I've sent an email to Arachnid about this, but I doubt he'll do anything about it anytime soon. Let's just hope he decides to check his email this week.
We'll continue to get rid of him until he goes away for good.

I think making it known will force Arachnid to get around to it FINALLY. It's been known among the more respected and well-known members for a while, but it's obvious that we would have IP banned Evil_Sire before he made all of his other accounts. Not a moderator in the world would allow that guy to keep coming back if they could ban him effectively.Ampersand wrote:That wasn't supposed to be known - A lot of moderation on NUMA for some time now has been scare tactics; granted, it should be there, but it's never been in-place, so we've just fudged it the entire time.Manus Australis wrote:What's left to discuss is why after 5 years of NUMA we still don't have IP checks/bans. What the fuck are you talking about?Rhekatou wrote:He's unavoidable; and how long has he been here? I say we just keep IP banning him.
-wait- hey- how come I was banned for arguing with half the community, and I got a week, but he keeps coming back?
No fair.
Well, he does make some good maps, if you want a bright side :)
"B_T: Wait... So this means I can break all the rules and not get banned! Awesome! The next week is going to be great!"

Yeah, it's been even more well-protected than the game's secrets, but you're right. It's time to get something effective.Manus Australis wrote:I think making it known will force Arachnid to get around to it FINALLY. Arachnid did that, I think, but he's not nearly active enough to deal with most problems NUMA faces. Thus, I would support a campaign to increase the powers of admins and moderators, so they can deal with stuff on a day to day basis more easily.Destiny wrote:How did we manage to get rid of that guy who posted somewhere close to 2000 maps all at once about a month or so back? I've requested from Arachnid to give moderators the ability to temporarily disable/ban accounts for up to 3 days. This would keep things under control under an admin and deal with it. No response so far...cheesemonger wrote:Arachnid did that, I think, but he's not nearly active enough to deal with most problems NUMA faces. "Hey Liam,
Sorry for the trouble you've been having. I've added a moderator log so we can track down what's going on, though I haven't written a UI for admins yet. I'll add that and IP bans as soon as I get a moment. I've also reinstated you and b_t as admins."

Yes, Arachnid works for Google.
@cheesemonger:
I promoted rocket_thumped and didn't bother to make a news post about it. :|
