The introvert that is Inspired is embarking on what may be the prodigious pinnacle of his English Class career. What I have to do is speak for upwards of fifteen minutes on the topic of Deception which could be fun if the class likes listening to a monotonous voice for 4.07x10^-5 % of their lives. I want to have the presentation that people bring up years down the line when we all get together for a class reunion. Basically... I would like your help to think of something creative and exciting which I could use to better the performance that will be my Presentation.

Ideas such as: Drawing a magnificent piece of the monster that is deception on the white-board throughout my talking, preparing a piece of stand-up comedy (which could possibly be the worst thing I ever do)...

Audience interaction is a superb idea. Get five of them up to you. First, ask them what their names are. Detail about why we can assume that each person is telling the truth, because we cannot perceive any motivation for lying.

Then ask them what the most embarrassing moment of their lives was. Some will say something embarrassing, some will say something funny, somebody will say I don't know. Reason to the audience that the survival instinct is what motivates deception. These people perceive survival in modern society as a social element as opposed to a physical one; the school environment has replaced the jungle.

And then select the one who gave the best answer to the previous question and tell him you want him to say three statements about a subject (Judge Joe Brown?) and lie in one of them. Ask the audience after each one if they think he is lying by a raise of hands. Observe that the paranoia and fear of deception leads most of us to want to avoid being honest ourselves.

Conclude with a surprising statistic and the joke, "But maybe that statistic was a lie. Thank you."

As long as it's not from Wikipedia, most American high schools really don't care. Besides, most authoritative or empirical studies on these kinds of issues are empirically and authoritatively pulled out of the authors' asses, anyways.

Slappy's idea works better, partially because it's deeper and more easily adapted to this kind of target audience, and partially because you know damn well you can't talk during the night phase.

What is the purpose of having them say their most embarassing moment? I'm confused about how this links in with survival instinct.

The social survival of students is what prompts them to lie in front of a large audience with respect to embarrassment.
