I'm afraid I already have plans for judging - there'll be a guest one each week alongside me (I've had enough experiences with competitions to know that having one person in a completely different time zone for a long-running contest can make it very hard to commit) so if you want to be a judge, that's fine, but you may only be judging one or two rounds.zoasBE wrote:Yeah,
I can help with the judgement, ChrisE, if you don't mind. Actually, I would prefer to switch from participant to judge, if this could be possible?
Thank you.

Oh, I'm also afraid if the timezones are your only inconvenient, because I think we have a quite similar time zone, you live in UK and I live in Spain, so there is only a single hour of difference, I think. Plus I have the whole day free, and I have no plans to occupy my days in the near future (i have no job and I doubt on finding one :P) So, I can be by your side everytime you need to. I can get IRC when you want or even PM you with my judgement after each round ends with very little time of difference.ChrisE wrote:I'm afraid I already have plans for judging - there'll be a guest one each week alongside me (I've had enough experiences with competitions to know that having one person in a completely different time zone for a long-running contest can make it very hard to commit) so if you want to be a judge, that's fine, but you may only be judging one or two rounds.zoasBE wrote:Yeah,

If you re-consider that possibility, I would be really interested in judging the whole competition. As a suggestion, I think it's better to have the same two or three judges with different point of views (and maybe a tie breaker over IRC), for the entire duration of the competition period. I don't think that a new judge every round is a nice option, if they are also participants (due almost every active author is competing here) So there is a risk that they judge on feelings influenced by the judgments of other judges in previous rounds, both for good and for bad. Think about that Chris. I'm entirely by your side with the judgement if you want, and we can follow the system you prefer, irc, pm's or what you want. Cheers.

Just so we're clear; I can't participate on account of having no feet. I don't have any fingers either after the infamous Swedish blender robot rampage of 1997.

It's really fun to look at people's final maps and guess which order they used - retile or reobject first. My submission will be coming soon!
EDIT: There we go. That was more challenging than expected.

Ok I found out that I suck at this. Anyway, here are my children (I won't even be mad if you choose to not judge them at all):
reobject (I like collecting gold):
retile (not sure if it's noticable, but I was kind of lost and clueless in this one):

I think it's fair to the participants specify our assessments and on what we have based our scoring in ROUND ONE. At least I'm going to do it. If you are wondering why your score looks like that, here you have my reviews and the results that I sent to ChrisE. I apologize in advance the wrong English here and there. I don't know if ChrisE is going to clarify his scoring, but here's mine.
Hope it is helpful to you to have the things quite more clear. And thank you all for participating.
Enjoy the next round!!!

EDIT: I want to apologize to trance because in my review about his Foot Doctor map I'm mentioning a chaingun that actually it is not there. That's because the rush of writting under pressure.. :P But I still remain at my scoring, so sorry bro!
EDIT2: I do not want to apologize to Kaprekar, your Shot in the Other Foot map it is still a great example about "How to ruin perfectly what could be a great puzzly map with lasers by a stupid mistake For Dummies" . ~~That arrogant behavior...~~
EDIT3: I want to apologize to Kaprekar, your Shot in the Other Foot map it is still a great example about "How to ruin perfectly what could be a great puzzly map with lasers by a stupid mistake For Dummies" but this statement could be seen as a clear insult and it should not have scored with zero. Sincerely, sorry.

I'm gonna make something that I think it is honest and fair, also fun. And I'm going to do it for several different reasons. First of all, I do not want it happens again that the delivery of my judgement/scoring are right on the limit of the time, and I do not want to work with rush. Secondly, because I think it is interesting and can be fun, and I think this have not been done before in any competition, that the results are published progressively in real time at the same time as the entries of the participants are appearing.
Also because I think it is fair to the participants, they can see my points of view in real time, regardless of any subsequent or previous entries, and that way there is no doubt that the rating was awarded based on a general idea or at the end after having all the participating entries at the hand. Furthermore I think it is a nice twist to the competition, participants who have not yet published in the current round, can see the scores of his fellow competitors, and also know beforehand about what they are competing against, so they may or may not try harder. And finally, because the suspense of the final result, since ChrisE judgement will be the end of the round.
Well, mainly because I think it is a nice touch for a competition of this characteristics and because I think it is fair for the participants. ChrisE, I hope you don't mind about this and that you think it is a cool idea as well as me.
So, if you are participating, and if you post a map to compete, you can check this pastebin with a difference of one day at most and see your score and the review from me there. And please, enjoy that new way!!!

Well, you win guys, I'm a complete dick.
It's really discouraging to see the behavior and the reaction of this community, when one simply tries to give as much as possible and strive to deliver the best. Finally I always end up getting complaints, insults and bad reactions when I honestly have not disrespected anyone. I'm not judging this competition anymore, so you guys can rest happy, this asshole that I am is out of the way. Chris sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but I think there will be any. Good luck to everyone!

I do not believe that the skills needed for this competition are skills that I posses and for that reason I would like to withdraw from this competition.

You can stay in the competition if you want, it's me who is withdrawing. And honestly, and in view of all, I want to apologize if my judgment or my comments have been offensive to you. Woah, Woah, Woah! Slow Down Leon, I've only used the E-5 Combo on a very limited number of maps. Usually I focus on a set of tiles in each of my maps or a shape of tiles! Plus these two maps improve your style ;p (I'm kidding)
