I agree. You should be able to overthrow everywhere, but only expand to adjacent squares.xaelar wrote:I would like to be able to overthrow lands all over the map ;)
That would solve it for me at least, dunno about others :/

Alright I think I know a way that Battle Lands can improve.
- You are able to overthrow anyone's map anywhere on the grid.
- If a player defeats another player's map by exceeding the maps owner's score, then that player gains control over that map and can either leave that map in place and defend it as if it was his own. OR they can post a new map in place of the one they just overthrew and claim that spot.
- A player can only post a new land adjacent to his own if he has not overthrown another player's map.
- If a player's map is overthrown by tying the player's score, then the map is only overthrown and the player who overthrew it can not claim that map for himself or post a new map in its place (unless it is adjacent to his own map.)
I think these rules would appeal to those who don't really want to make maps and just want to highscore, and to those who like to make maps and highscore.
So what do you guys think? Too complicated? Too simple? Horrible Idea? Great idea?
EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

I disagree on this point. If there's an empty spot adjacent to one of your maps, you should be able to take it regardless.

I think you misunderstood my language there. I changed the "if" to "unless" and deleted the "not." I am suggesting that if a player has not overthrown anyone else's maps then they can only post in open and adjacent plots. But If the player has overthrown someone else's map then they can either claim that map and defend it as if they posted it, OR post a new one in its place even if it is not adjacent to one of their other maps.bufar wrote:TheRealOne wrote: - A player can only post a new land adjacent to his own Unless he has overthrown another player's map.

Actually there would be a third option, which is don't do anything further with that land.TheRealOne wrote:I think you misunderstood my language there. Anyway, I agree with Unreality's original rule of only overthrowing adjacent lands. It encourages people to jump in without worrying if xaelar's going to overthrow their land in 2 seconds. Seriously. You want to overthrow it? Go get next to it. Which brings me right to my next point:
It seems to me that the major problem with this game is the lack of mobility. Some users may have lots of unrated maps (to edit) or may be submitting enough new maps, but the rest of us don't/aren't, and this *highscoring game* shouldn't penalize us for that. So I really think it would be best to remove the requirement that you can only claim with your own maps. And I'd like to know what Unreality thinks about that.
Oh and to address an issue I brought up before about having tons of past runs, you could have the site only allow "new" runs, where "new" means runs obtained past the date the game started on. Enforcing that should be pretty simple - just check the timestamps on the runs being subbed. Easy as pie! (I imagine)

I leave for a few days and when I come back what do I find? TheRealOne has overthrown almost all of my land. No hard feelings, but I hope you realize that this is war.

I left him with x2y10 because i haven't played that map yet, but for some reason x3y10 won't get overthrown? I have have over a 20 second lead on bufar on his map 168144 (x3y10) but when I submit his map wont disappear.

I think I know why. When I made the map it was intended for MotA, but when I finished it was so late that I impulsively uploaded it to NUMA and put it on Battle Land. I quickly tried to change this this by removing the nReality Map Type from the code. So that's why it won't work. I'll fix that now.TheRealOne wrote:Unreality wrote:with one more TRO land he will be able to overthrown all your remaining lands... tl;dr
Anyway, I hope Unreality fixes this in his coding, or else I might just dominate the board after all.I hope you win, TheRealOne. I don't want to have been annihilated by the guy who takes bronze.

Yeah, that worked. I resubmitted my score and overthrew your last map.
It was a great battle and I will try and win. Next I am after sayko. Gonna write TRO over the middle three he has.
Oh, and props for rocking the pink, I too have been rocking the pink since 04.

What if it is an instance where the creator of the Map is yokola95, and they have a lower score than the 0th - Kobratikk? To overthrow other players' lands
Firstly, there is no way to capture other players' lands. You can only overthrow/remove it and make the land become empty again.
Secondly, to overthrow a land, you must have your own land next to it. It can be vertically/horizontally/diagonally next to that land.
You can overthrow a land next to you by submitting a score that is better or tied the land owner score.
There's no limit on overthrowing others' lands. You can overthrow as many other players' lands without time limit.
Do you have to claim that 0th? Or just get a better (or equal) score than (to) the creator? (eg.5th)
What if it has reached 10x10 and 33% of the lands are occupied? What if all lands being occupied?
Currently whenever 33% of the lands are being occupied, the world expand one unit in both width & height.
This process will go on & on until it reaches 10x10
Will you exceed 10x10?

I think the original release only had the 100 extra episodes. Speedrun mode, image maps, and object mods were added in later. Most of the drone mods came in late 2008, so you're not too far off. :Skyozo_43 wrote:Holy Jesus!EddyMataGallos wrote:2007
