Ok, if it won't let you submit it on NUMA, you can post it here, but you still need to post an AGD.
Anyway, just one more entry to come!

We're still waiting on one map, so after that's been posted the judges will put up their judging and I'll work out the scores from that.

Ok well I've been unable to contact flag for the last couple of days he might have been working on it in which case accept his version and ignore this but I have to go now so I won't know heres what we were working on to stop us getting 0. I'll do better in the next round

Fuck. Sorry!

This is the finished version, I guess, although I didn't get a chance to contact Chume due to a communication breakdown. Sorry again to everyone who's been waiting, and thanks, cheesemonger, for the extra time.

AGD hopefully coming, but it's gonna be a challenge with 200 megs of RAM or whatever this piece of shit has.

EDIT: Absolutely shitty AGD:
As for the storm theme, judges, please think laterally, and maybe show a little bias for flag's sake. :)

Flag, I can't get your AGD to work...plus you need to submit the finished version to NUMA and post a link here rather than just posting the data.
And thanks for ploughing on despite this communication breakdown.

Here's the map, although I disliked having to submit it. As for the AGD, all I can tell you is that I made it in v1.3, so maybe it only works in that. It's legit, and I hope you'll trust that--it was a pain to finally get one. Please reply quickly as to whether you'll accept it. It doesn't much matter what you say, though; I can't make another right now, and chume would appear to be out-of-town.

Ok, no worries, I'll gladly accept it. Just bear in mind that every entry for the competition needs to be submitted to NUMA.
Right, judging time! I'll pm the other two and tell them that they can submit judging now.

Ok, I meant to post this last night, but appropriately enough, there was a mahoosive storm so I couldn't go on the computer ;_;
Anyway, my judging for Round 1 (Other judges shouldn't look at this until after they've posted their own judging, reason being I don't want you guys to be influenced by my judging).
My Judging for Round 1

Golfkid & Ninja143

Aesthetics – 7/20 Pretty ugly, I’m afraid ;_;
Gameplay – 13/30 – Some parts were good, but it was too hard as a whole.
Fun – 11/30 Same as above
Use of theme – 13/20 More like Riders in the Storm
Total – 44/100 Sub-par, I’m afraid.

BionicCryonic & GTM

Aesthetics – 16/20 Sweet.
Gameplay – 25/30 Great, it really worked as a whole.
Fun – 25/30 It seemed hard, but I AGD’d it first try o.0…which is good :P
Use of theme – 7/20 GTM fails at theming again (lmc3, anyone? :P)
Total – 73/100 Excellent, especially since you royally screwed yourselves over theming-wise and still got the best score from me :)

Eganic & Inspired

Aesthetics – 13/20 Decent
Gameplay – 19/30 Adequate but not really exciting
Fun – 16/30 Fun to speedrun, but not to highscore
Use of theme – 10/20 I could see what you were trying but it didn’t really come off.
Total – 58/100 Nothing really special I’m afraid :/

Squibbles & natures peril

Aesthetics – 14/20 Pretty nice
Gameplay – 22/30 Nice use of thwumps
Fun – 16/30 Pretty frustrating
Use of theme – 16/20 Riding the thwumps = riding the storm :)
Total – 68/100 Nice!

Destiny and atob

Aesthetics – 15/20 Nice
Gameplay – 22/30 Generally solid, but the bottom right annoyed me
Fun – 18/30Reasonably fun
Use of theme – 14/20 More like hopping gingerly over the storm than riding it.
Total – 68/100 Good effort.

Kablamo & Meta Ing

Aesthetics – 18/20 HOLY SHIT I’M GETTING BLOWN AWAAAAAAY…
Gameplay – 14/30 Competent, but INSANELY HARD >:/
Fun – 12/30 Same as above
Use of theme – 19/20 You guys absolutely nailed this one; of all the storm cloud type ones, this one took the biscuit. Plus, I was riding it, too!
Total – 63/100 Really fell down in the actual playable aspect ;_;

ChrisE & Leaff

Aesthetics – 12/20 Nothing Special
Gameplay – 15/30 Quite hard ;_;
Fun – 18/30 Quite fun, but hard ;_;
Use of theme – 4/20 Erm…it was wavy? Not much of a storm…
Total – 46/100 A bit meh, tbh.

Jasdanu & Goatman

Aesthetics – 12/20 Decent, but a bit messy
Gameplay – 16/30 Good ideas, but too difficult to move around on :/
Fun – 13/30 Eh, not really.
Use of theme – 13/20 It was…different.
Total – 54/100 Average

Lightning and MCKY

Aesthetics – 12/20 Didn’t get the whole bounceblock = sun bit :/
Gameplay – 20/30 Pretty solid, apart from that last bounceblock
Fun – 20/30 Same as above
Use of theme – 16/20 The mine and gold placement was a nice touch :)
Total – 66/100 Solid.

Flagmyidol and chume14

Aesthetics – 13/20 Solid, other than the gold which I didn’t like :/
Gameplay – 18/30 Ok
Fun – 20/30 Pretty fun
Use of theme – 18/20 I’m glad someone used the whole of the theme rather than just the “storm” part. I totally felt like I was riding the storm.
Total – 69/100 Good.

Skyline and Yahoozy

Aesthetics – 15/20 Not sure about the gold, but otherwise great.
Gameplay – 21/30 Quite nice
Fun – 18/30 Pretty fun, but hard.
Use of theme – 17/20 A Bomb Storm! Extra points for being creative with the theme.
Total – 71/100 Quite impressive.

So special praise goes to GTM and BionicCryonic who topped the gameplay and fun section and Meta Ing and Kablamo who topped aesthetics and Use of Theme.

General Pointers for later Rounds: I'll no longer remind you about posting AGDs - if you forget from now on, you'll lose a couple of marks. Also, not enough of you used the theme; you saw "storm" and proceeded to make a stormcloud. The theme was "Riders on the Storm", and only a few of you seemed to realise that.

Realise what? A storm cloud is a perfectly reasonable way to interpret the theme, what a ridiculous thing to say! I'll admit that Yahoozy and Skyline's interpretation was much more imaginative though, even if it wasn't subbed as a collaboration at first then cheekily snuck in in place of the previous entry...

Um...yeah, you're right actually, I was a bit unclear there:
I meant that I didn't feel like I was actually riding the storm in many of them; of course a storm cloud was an acceptable way of representing the theme, and I'm sorry if it appeared that I said it wasn't. It's just that many of you didn't seem to represent the "riders" bit of the theme enough for my liking. Anyway, I was quite harsh with my judging, so you can probably expect your score to increase once the other two submit their judging.

:?!

Honestly, not that I'm complaining about winning (and please don't change our score ;P), but it seems a bit odd that you can win a round without having anything to do with the theme in your map. Plus, how on earth did I get twice as many points as someone else for slapping "Lightning" on the title, and doing nothing else?

I'm flattered, though. Hopefully my next round will be more theme-relevant, if Kablamo ever gets back to me.

Woah, easy tiger: you haven't won yet. The other two judges have yet to post, and I have no idea whether they'll be lenient or harsh with any of this. Plus, they might just not like your map :P
I know it's odd that you can win without using the theme much, but the emphasis isn't on the theme in this competition; think of it as a sort of bonus category (and yes, I know it's out of the same number as the aesthetics, but that's, erm, unimportant) where you can gain those extra points to raise your score above everyone else. Luckily for you, I felt that your map compensated in the other categories for what it lacked in theming. Oh, and there's nothing in the rules about editing the title after submission...

Ok, new rule! Any quibbles with the judging that I deem unreasonable will result in points being deducted!
Given that I'm a fairly good player, I think I have every right to mark a map down for being too hard. Hell, meta and kablamo's map was originally too hard for meta to AGD. Think about that.

If the majority of NUMA will find it too hard, why shouldn't that have an impact on fun? It doesn't make them wimps, meta_ing's map seriously looked balls-to-the-walls menacing. -_-

My judging results are in!
Round One Results

Collab Tourney Reviews – Round 1

Before my review, I'd like to remind everyone that the theme is where most participants lost points. Unlike gameplay or aesthetics, it can easily be a low number no matter how good of mappers the authors are.

Aesthetics /20
Gameplay /30
Fun /30
Use of theme /20

Honorable Mentions

Thundercloud
by golfkid and ninja143

Aesthetics: 6/20 - If I hadn't read the title, I might have thought it was a tornado. Tiles were used poorly and cloud misshapen.
Gameplay: 19/30 - A few awkward sections, but I kind of liked the upper areas with the drones.
Fun: 20/30 - A bit of wait time with the drone paths
Use of theme: 15/20 - All aesthetics put aside, the player at times rode a storm. Not so for the lower half.
Total: 60

17.4 Quantum Physics
by Leaff and ChrisE

Aesthetics: 14/20 - Tiles were very nice, but I felt like the lower section could have been spiced up a bit more. Objects didn't match the tiles in my opinion, and the 6 doors didn't look very good.
Gameplay: 22/30 - A lot of the jumps were frustrating, the rocket kept dying on me, and it didn't seem like there was much threat in this map, which made a lot of it quite boring.
Fun: 20/30 - The tiles did a lot to save this map
Use of theme: 10/20 - Abstract rain clouds... didn't much resemble. You got the riding part in though.
Total: 66/100

Lightning Complex
by GTM and BionicCryonic

Aesthetics: 16/20 - The right and center mine rings seemed ugly and misshapen
Gameplay: 26/30 – I enjoyed the floorguard mechanic, the gold, and the drones.
Fun: 24/30 – Aesthetics ruined some of it for me.
Use of Theme: 3/20 – Besides the title, nothing stormy about it.
Total: 68/100

Phone
by Chume14 and Flagmyidol

Aesthetics: 12/20 - The tiles felt weak and thrown together, gold didn't compliment the tiles. Exits looked decent.
Gameplay: 22/30 - The multiple exits played decently, but all the gausses just felt hectic and awkward.
Fun: 21/30 - A lot of the jumps and moves seemed awkward for me.
Use of Theme: 15/20 - If those tiles are rain, then it does have both elements needed. Not very stormy however.
Total: 70/100

Thunder Romp
by Goatman and Jasdanu

Aesthetics: 14/20 - It had a decent 'palemoon' feel to it, but unlike his maps, quite a few tiles just didn't fit. Gold was very nice and complementary.
Gameplay: 22/30 - A few decent mechanics in the center of the map. The start was awkward however.
Fun: 21/30 - It felt very empty after the rockets shut off.
Use of theme: 15/20 - It could half-see abstract rain clouds and rain. Not entirely original in idea, though decently so in presentation.
Total: 72/100

Lightning Strike
by Squibbles and Natures_Peril

Aesthetics: 7/20 - Tiles were ugly and poorly done in my opinion, and the oneways did little to help. The upper section could use quite a bit of editing for looks.
Gameplay: 26/30 – It was nice how you used the thwumps for timing.
Fun: 25/30 – The thwump trick again was a pleasant surprise, and though there was a constant threat it was never overpowered.
Use of Theme: 15/20 - I felt you could have used it more originally
Total: 73/20

Head in the Clouds
by Lightning55 and MyCheezKilledYours

Aesthetics: 13/20 - I actually liked the lightning and ring of tiles. Bounceblock concentration seemed ugly, arbitrary, and dpointless. Some of the tiles also weren't cohesive.
Gameplay: 25/30 – The switch area was nice, and the jumps below the clouds were tough. Short though, and not very unique.
Fun: 21/30 – The lower section got on my nerves at times, but the beginning was nice.
Use of Theme: 16/20 – Lightning, and sun were nice and semi-original while the clouds were ugly and bland. Nothing very original done, but true to the theme.
Total: 75/100

Travellin' around the Storm...
by Inspired and Eganic

Aesthetics: 17/20 - I really like the tiles, and the majority of objects complimented this. The exit seemed poorly placed however.
Gameplay: 24/30 - The symmetry could get dull, and maybe a laser or rocket would have aided gameplay on the right and left sides. The gauss played well though.
Fun: 23/30 - Again, the repetition and lack of threat lowered your score here. Atmosphere was nice
Use of theme: 13/20 - Your description helped a lot here. The drones/gameplay matched it, and had a feel that matched the theme. But the storm had passed, and there was no riding to be done.
Total: 77/100

3rd Place

Can'tnamethisrightnow-tootired...
by Meta Ing and Kablamo

Aesthetics: 19/20 - It looks wonderful.
Gameplay: 25/30 - Gausses, especially on the left, seemed very overpowered. Drone mechanics were nice.
Fun: 22/30 - Much too tough to be of much enjoyment for me. Again, the combination of minejumper and deadly gauss really overwhelmed it. I enjoyed the inside of the tornado however.
Use of theme: 20/20 - Stormy, and you used an original tornado instead of a classic thunderstorm. Bonus points.
Total: 86/100

2nd Place

Gravity Rides Everything
by Astheoceansblue and Destiny

Aesthetics: 18/20 - The rain looked really nice. My only complaint is the cloud, it feels too thin.
Gameplay: 27/30 - It felt a little empty up top. I would have like a gauss or something to increase the threat level. I did like the contrast between the upper, linear gameplay and lower open play.
Fun: 23/30 - It was a little on the tough side, and was perhaps a little boring in my opinion.
Use of theme: 19/20 - The player must survive and play/'ride' the perfect storm.
Total: 87/100

1st Place

Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls
by Yahoozy and Skyline

Aesthetics: 18/20 – I liked the feel of it, and how you went above simply copy-pasting tiles. Mines looked nice as well.
Gameplay: 28/30 – I enjoyed your use of elevation to determine route at times, instead of blocking it off with one-ways or such as less experienced authors would do. The gauss was effective, as were the rockets
Fun: 27/30 – Once I got the hang of it, a great map to replay
Use of Theme: 20/20 - Very original interpretation. Full marks.
Total: 93/100

Good job everyone, and good luck next round. If you disagree with anything I've put down, or I've made a mistake in my addition, feel free to PM, but be prepared to justify yourself. These results are subject to change but competitors who think they deserve higher scores must argue why.

I was kinda unsure about Lightning's bounceblocks in the sun, but I just left them.

Since gameplay and fun were both categories, I decided to use gameplay for the technical stuff and fun for the intangibles.
My judging

atob/destiny

gameplay: 23/30 the drones impressed me the most; they were flawless
fun: 18/30 the bottom half was more fun than the top
aesthetics: 14/20 I would’ve liked to see a bit more rain on the lower-right
use of theme: 17/20 not much wrong here

total: 72/100

inspired/eganic

gameplay: 20/30 mechanically, there wasn’t too much wrong with this, though some of the map felt a bit awkward to move on, and the gauss didn’t get me once
fun: 11/30 doing what was basically the same thing on both the left and right was a huge turn-off, and the drones felt like a gimmick for the theme
aesthetics: 10/20 really nothing special
use of theme: 9/20 the drones were good for rain, but rain != storm

total: 52/100

skyline/yahoozy

gameplay: 26/30 that first walljump through the mines was a bit annoying, especially for the start of the map. the rest was great
fun: 29/30 it was cool jumping through the rocket tiles, and going up felt like going against the flow, in a good way. nice!
aesthetics: 17/20 fun to look at, though the lack of gold in the bottom left was a small con in my opinion
use of theme: 18/20 certainly original, but it was so unique in its interpretation that I almost didn’t notice how it related. that may be a fault of my own though, so i’m not taking much off.

total: 90/100

ninja143/golfkid

gameplay: 15/30 the fact that you sometimes had to wait for the drones to pass was the worst part of the gameplay, and getting up there was a bit of a pain too
fun: 15/30 same as gameplay in this case
aesthetics: 3/20 I really didn’t like looking at this at all, especially the cloud. the only visually appealing part of this map was the lightning bolt.
use of theme: 16/20 regardless of whether the storm cloud looked good or not, it fits the theme, and going inside it felt like the ninja was riding the storm.

total: 49/100

natures peril/squibbles

gameplay: 17/30 the gausses got on my nerves more than anything, but the thwumps were decently done
fun: 7/30 those gausses, particularly the right one, were awful, frustrating and ruined the potential enjoyment that this map could’ve had
aesthetics: 14/20 the box that most of this map was within made it look a bit bland, but the lightning bolts were kinda cool and the gold patches looked nice
use of theme: 10/20 storm? yes. riding the storm? no.

total: 48/100

lightning/cheez

gameplay: 19/30 the jumps through the mines got a bit annoying at times, but it wasn’t too bad; but what the hell was with that floorguard?
fun: 20/30 the minimalism was nice. it reminded me of the fact that if you walk outside in a storm, there’s almost nobody out there
aesthetics: 14/20 that drone was a nice touch, but again, that floorguard drove me insane
use of theme: 8/20 just because there are clouds doesn’t mean there’s a storm

total: 61/100

gtm/bioniccryonic

gameplay: 27/30 those one-ways seemed pointless. flawless otherwise
fun: 29/30 I had a ton of fun finding the different routes through the map, and somehow the drones seemed to work through all of them.
aesthetics: 15/20 I would’ve liked to see a gold arc or two to compliment the mine arcs
use of theme: 0/20 this doesn’t fit the theme at all. you even expressed so in one of your comments on the map, gtm :/

total: 73/100

sneekfeet/jasdanu

gameplay: 24/30 though there were a few awkward parts, this map was pretty nice mechanically, and the enemies were well placed
fun: 15/30 sometimes it didn’t seem worth it to go for the gold, especially since the smaller patches were the harder-to-get ones
aesthetics: 6/20 the tiles were grotesque
use of theme: 11/20 yeah, there was thunder and all, but the horrible tiles made it feel like one of those old 8-bit games in the sense that I probably wouldn’t think of a storm at all had I not been expecting it.

total: 56/100

meta ing/kablamo boom

gameplay: 19/30 getting killed by the mines through the 2 and 3 tiles sometimes was a pain, especially given the difficulty
fun: 12/30 the long loading time coupled with the difficulty was not a good combination
aesthetics: 16/20 the gold was cool, but perhaps a bit overdone; you could’ve done the same thing with fewer pieces
use of theme: 17/20 it looked like a tornado, but a tornado could be a storm, so whatever. it was a good tornado regardless :P

total: 63/100

flag/chume

gameplay: 10/30 I understand you were rushed, but it showed too much to overlook.
fun: 10/30 bad gameplay = not fun
aesthetics: 5/20 those tiles are average, and the objects look noobish
use of theme: 2/20 I didn’t see anything like a storm here

total: 27/100

leaff/chrise

gameplay: 25/50 somehow that rocket managed to follow me everywhere; it was neither too intruding nor inefficient
fun: 20/30 again, great job with the rocket, but a few points off because I've played dozens of maps like this one before
aesthetics: 16/30 nothing special, but it worked
use of theme: 1/20 I guess a storm involves physics?

total: 62/100
