I don't believe so, because even if you IP block him, he can (for example) just use another computer to register a new account.Rule wrote:So, you're rolling on laugh flooring?
I'm glad he is disabled, even though he will be/is back.
Isn't there any way he can be blocked out for good?

You know, it's easier to change IPs on the same computer. :/Avarin wrote:I don't believe so, because even if you IP block him, he can (for example) just use another computer to register a new account.Rule wrote:So, you're rolling on laugh flooring?

Yeah, but if it comes to that the staff'll just be able to contact his ISP and get him locked out permanently.Avarin wrote:I don't believe so, because even if you IP block him, he can (for example) just use another computer to register a new account.Rule wrote:So, you're rolling on laugh flooring?

We're so needlessly lenient. :PManus Australis wrote:ampburner was the only person who was selected by both people I asked to help choose reviewers as well as myself. He had one of the best applications of the entire process. I didn't announce him because I wasn't sure which account he wanted to be a reviewer on, and then I banned (or maybe I simply disabled ratings) on the account he didn't want.
I agree in the past he has been an awful person, given me much grief as well as the rest of the staff. People can change, and though I'm not too quick to accept that he has changed I can at least give him his reviewer status which he earned by writing some of the best reviews that I've seen on NUMA.
Apologies if this sends a message that causes mixed feelings about the staff of NUMA or the example that is supposedly being shown here. I hope this clears things up.

There's no guarantee that he knows how to change his IP address anyway; I say IP ban, and if he still comes back, I say we just let him; if he's sad enough to go to those extents to keep returning to a community where nobody likes him, then I guess we'll just have to ignore him.

That's not entirely true. It's his comments that nobody likes. There's nothing wrong with his maps. In fact, though I haven't played enough of them to judge fairly, I think I like him as a mapper.cheesemonger wrote:if he's sad enough to go to those extents to keep returning to a community where nobody likes him, then I guess we'll just have to ignore him.
EDIT: Having browsed the comments on that map cheesemonger linked to, can we just IP ban him and get it over with? Good god. What is left to discuss?

What's left to discuss is why after 5 years of NUMA we still don't have IP checks/bans. We also don't have a moderator log. As far as a moderation staff goes, NUMA is lacking in some pretty important features. We have no paper trail for anything and now we've probably come to the point where it's blindsiding us.Avarin wrote:Having browsed the comments on that map cheesemonger linked to, can we just IP ban him and get it over with? I've sent an email to Arachnid about this, but I doubt he'll do anything about it anytime soon. Let's just hope he decides to check his email this week.

Oh, I had no idea. I knew voting was blind, but I didn't know that philosophy was applied to other things. I hope Arachnid feels like updating. *crosses fingers*Manus Australis wrote:What's left to discuss is why after 5 years of NUMA we still don't have IP checks/bans. We also don't have a moderator log. -wait- hey- how come I was banned for arguing with half the community, and I got a week, but he keeps coming back?
No fair.
Well, he does make some good maps, if you want a bright side :)
